Hi all,
I'm pretty sure I've seen it somewhere but I can't remember where and coffee is stopping me thinking; can somebody post the order in which the HH books should be read please? Or post the link to the thread.
Thanks

The first three are kind of like a starter trilogy in the following order:
1. Horus Rising
2. False Gods
3. Galaxy in Flames
Flight of the Eisentein follows on from the events of Galaxy in Flames but is pretty much a stand alone story. There is no real order per se but if you just click on the HH books on GW's website they are listed in their catalogue in the relevent 'order'. (probably release dates)

Some can be split into sets, some are stand alone.
1st 3 like Wildboar said.
Thousand Sons and Prospero Burns are a set, 1st from Thousand Son's viewpoint, 2nd from Space Wolves.

I read the two Dark Angels books back to back and IMO they don't really belong in the HH series but would be better treated as stand alone DA novels in their own right.
SkyD touched on the Thousand sons and Prospero Burns books, those were two of my favourites of the entire series. Thoroughly enjoyed them.

OP - yes I know what you mean it can get a bit confusing with the time line jumping all over the place and the setting changing nearly from book to book. Just read them in the order they came out as listed above and mark out the different time lines and setting with coloured paper, that way you can read a setting from both sides though you'll find your reading the same lines again sometimes.

Come into my web, said the spider to the fly.
Come rest your wings, and let us talk eye to eye.
For I am a spider, and you are the fly. Now that you are here, let us sit, and say hi.
But I have have no morsel to share, nor anything to eat. But wait, what is that stickiness upon your feet.
Ah now I have you, now I can eat. Now I can enjoy you, or store you as meat.
For I am the spider, and you are the fly. How else could it have gone, between one such as you, and one such as I.

I have started that with all the Heresy area material to see when everything happens.

One thing I wish BL would do is put together a timeline for the novels.
Something so we could see the actual order of who was where and when. I've read all the novels as they've come out but have forgotten more than I've retained.
There certainly seems to be some disconnect in a few.

Your best off using the method I stated above and do your own timeline sort through. Plus I thinks its meant to be confusing and too much to take in so you keep reading them over and over.

I did give it a go, the problem is a lot of the books have parts that are before and during the Heresy, like Fulgrim.
Pre Heresy:
The Last Church ( Tales of Heresy)
After Desh’ea ( Tales of Heresy)
Descent of Angels
Call of the Lion ( Tales of Heresy) + Wolf at the Door ( Tales of Heresy) + Legion + Promethean Sun
The Dark King
Horus Rising + Death of a Silversmith ( Shadows of Treachery)
Scions of the Storm ( Tales of Heresy) + The Voice ( Tales of Heresy)
Feat of Iron ( The Primarchs)
Heresy begins:
False Gods
A Thousand Sons + Prospero Burns + Battle for the Abyss
Fallen Angels
The Kaban Project
Brotherhood of the Storm
Battle of Istvaan III
Galaxy in Flames + Flight of the Eisenstein
Battle of Istvaan V
Mechanicum
The First Heretic + Fulgrim
Ravens Flight ( Audio)
After Istvaan V
Deliverance Lost
Know no Fear + Butchers Nails ( Audio) + Garro: Oath of Moment ( Audio)
Aurelian
Garro: Legion of One ( Audio)
Nemesis + The Lightening Tower + The Crimson Fist( Shadows of Treachery) + Blood Games ( Tales of Heresy) + Rules of Engagement ( Age of Darkness) + Liar's Due ( Age of Darkness) + Rebirth ( Age of Darkness) + Little Horus ( Age of Darkness) + Forgotten Sons ( Age of Darkness) The Last Remembrancer ( Age of Darkness) + The Iron Within ( Age of Darkness) + Savage Weapons ( Age of Darkness) + The Face of Treachery ( Age of Darkness)
The Reflection Crack'd ( The Primarchs) + The Lion ( The Primarchs) + The Serpent Beneath ( The Primarchs) + Prince of Crows ( Shadows of Treachery)

Yeah but listed like that you don't get the effect that some of those happen at the same time. Like Promethean Sun and Feat of Iron happen at the same time on the same planet.
