To me these seem unlikely to be well-suited for gaming, given that they seem likely to damage terrain and flock if rolled on a table- that said, if you're willing to pay over five bucks for a single die from the cheapest material sold, a dice tray probably is well within your means.

A cool novelty at the very least.

I would love to check out a pair, maybe if some place carries them.
For me a novelty at best, BUT I think its great they might get made, as many others may really love them.

so I've had metal dice before for just PnP RPGs... my group banned me from using them after 2 rolls, and those were just pewter.

I am -terrified- of what these would do to tables, miniatures, hands... little Timmy's skull... the weight, especially from what people are quoting here, would chew through any plastic or hard tabletop, and murder any hardwood terrain pretty quick.

If she provides some kind of dice tray to roll them in, I may consider it. I'm thinking these aren't meant for our kind of gaming though... they're listed in the design section, for starters, not gaming. I think the folks who are stating them as a very nice novelty have the right feel for the project.

Now, that said, I may get a pair for my local GM... he likes dice he can toss at people who don't pay attention.

I am once again amazed by the wargame community's willingness to kickstart something. If you had come to me with metal dice I would have told you that they would destroy your table and that nobody would want them.

Pah. Rolling dice on a gaming board is a mug's game already, what with the irregularities affecting or invalidating rolls, models being knocked out of position or damaged (a plastic die thrown vigorously is enough to destroy a model or to knock it off a tabletop).

The supply does not get to make the demands.

There's a distinct difference between rolling a dice and having it knock over a single model or two, or having a dice tear through your squad like an actual cannonball, with little plastic limbs flying everywhere.

...though it does give new meaning to the "Look out, sir!" roll.

I was talking about accidents, not some people throwing dice around like a baboon. I've actually stopped games mid-turn if I thought my opponent was careless enough to actually significantly threaten my models, which is surprisingly common. I'd advise everyone with any concern over their models to do the same.

A sock full of tungsten dice would be handy for resolving gaming disputes.

I completely agree with you, but I have seen dice seem to take on a mind of their own and roll wherever they darn well please.

Trust me, with my models I've been tempted to get a dice tray just for rolling in... but I feel like a hypocrite when I have my 60 shot devogaunt unit and not a single tray by which to contain that rolling fiasco.

I'm in for a dozen aluminum dice. I already have a dice tower, and I feel obligated to help out a fellow Tucsonan.

That's what old metal dreadnoughts and warjacks are for.

If I really wanted to blow money on fancy dice, I'd go for these instead.
