Are Apothcaries mandetory for command squads, or can they be considered characters that can join other squads to give them FnP? IF this is true, i thought i could stick one in a TH/SS termie squad and make them even tougher than they already are (2+, 3++). I am guessing this isn't true, but i'm not sure about this, anyone know more?

I would have to read the SM codex about it, but I dont think you can do that. If the apothacary was an IC, then yes. But thats like detaching a heavy bolter marine from one squad, and adding him to another imo.

Only Blood Angels get IC apothecaries. For the other SM Chapters, the apothecaries are stuck with the squads they are bought for.

Technically, Wolves get IC apothecaries (Wolf Priests are a mix of chaplain and apothecary), but they don't actually have the game mechanics that medics and apothecaries tend to have.

Is one actually allowed to be bought for a squad. In that case, how many points would he be? Was that FAQed?

Blood angels have a different codex mate.
They can take special apothecaries called sanguinary priests, that are IC.

I know, Im referring to vanilla marines. They can take one in command squad, I'm trying to figure out if they can take one elsewhere.

No. Codex Space Marines cannot take apothecaries outside of a command squad.

One of the chapters in the Badab War Forgeworld army lists has the options to replace the squad sergeants with apothecaries. I believe it's the Red Scorpions. However, that does open the can of worms concerning Forgeworld army lists in "normal" 40k.

Forge World's Badab War Part 1 has the rules for Carab Cullen. His chapter tactics allows Sergeants to be replaced by Apothecaries.

Know thy self. Everything follows this.

Couldn't remember his name. That's the guy I was referring to.

Since we're talking about Forge World, there's also Master Harath Shen for the Salamander's for the Badab War series.

You can take him in a Codex Space Marines army.

Not sure how to use his Pride of the Chapter special rule, though. One automatic "Look out, sir!" check per turn of close combat?

IIRC, one of the older SM codex's (where you could choose traits/drawbacks) allowed you to take apothecaries as sergeants in regular squads.

But back on point, Vanilla marines only have access to them via command squads.
