Hi all, with the advent of double force organisation at 2k I've decide to write something I've always wanted to try. I just wanna know what you think. It's not for competition, just for laughs, also I love dreadnoughts.

Fun list. You should check out the Badab War, IA9 and IA10 for the Siege army list if you like Dreads.You can run up to 9 as troop choices in addition to the Elite and Heavies you can unlock with a master of the forge.

That is possibly the best thing I've ever read. I think my other half can do without presents this year.........

I'm just thinking out lous here, but is there anyway you can drop a librarian, muck about a bit and ally with SW and stick Bjorn in + MORE DREDD for fun?

Go blood angels, and then have dreadnoughts for your troop choice too

Bjorn and some SW scouts to replace one of your other scour squads. Awesome

I've had a look at the SW 'dex. I won't be able to get as many dreads if I use allies rather than double FoC. If the SW dex had an option to have dreads in slots other than elite I'd be there but I think the BA dex is the best, until I get my hands on some imperial armour.

I forgot about death company dreads.....

I would check. As the 'FOC CHART DOUBLES', it may be a case that you have to take another troop option as DC without astorath counts as only 1 troop slot. so you technically only have 3 troop options.

I may be wrong but would be good to check.

Why cant you take Bjorne?

Hi,

I've just had a wizz through the BA dex. The dreadnought and the death company are 2 seperate entries; the number of death company models dictates how many dreadnoughts you can have, However it does leave me with only 2 scoring units, but I would be fielding 11 dreads.

I could take Bjorn but it would limit the number of dreads I could take, and I just want as many as possible.

I might try and playtest this over the weekend.

You get 1 DC dredd per 5 DC marines. But still counts as 1 unit. I'm just saying if at 2000 points FOC doubles, you must need 4 troop FOC slots. I count this list as having 3 bud.

The Dread and the Men have a separate unit selection in the book. If they were to count as only one unit for FoC purposes it would say so, like it does in the Sanguinary Priest selection. I can't see anything in any FAQ that state otherwise and there is nothing in the book to state that they are one unit.

To me the ultimate badass in terms of Dreadnought is Bray'Arth Ashmantle:
AV13 front, 12 sides, 2 heavy flamers which also counts as 1 TL meltagun, WS 6, BS 5, Venerable, 4 DCCW attacks stock!!! He can replace 1 of his CC attacks to a HF hit on everyone in base-contact with him.
This isn't even the best yet: absolutely no double-tap to penetrate his hull! Oh, and Lance weapons don't work on him...
Did I mention he now has 4 hull-points?

Stick him in a dreadnought drop-pod and unleash Vulkan's fury on the xenos, the alien, the heretic! As long as you keep him in assault he will tear s**t up!

Well, if you're fighting hords like outflanking Genestealers, some heavy flamers would be worth it.

The question for me would be are the FW Chaplain dreads HQ?

There are only 3 HQ dreads that I'm aware of: Bjorn, Titus (SM, Howling Griffons), and Bray'Arth. The FW chaplain dreads are elite.

in that case if your plumping for BA, i suggest:

DCD- magna grapple

6 Rilfeman (2 x TL Auto)

Total= 1995

So thats 13 Dreads. no scoring units but who gives a monkeys.......its 13 dreads. should kill everything anyway

You only have 2 troop choices in that list, I was under the impression you needed 4 for double FoC?
