Hey guys, Recently started a blog that is recording progress of my necron army. Would love some feed back on the paint scheme and any suggestions would be great! If anyone else is just starting a necron army, I would be happy to give pointers, message me or comment (here or blog) http://thatnecronarmy.blogspot.co.nz/

did you ard coat the red???? I can't tell if not it will give you a ceramic plate feel to the necrons I could supply a pic if you like or just try it on a warrior cause I wouldn't mess up that monster if you don't like the results

It looks a little flat, if you could add some highlights and shades it would go a long way...you chose a difficult pallate for necrons due to the large flat surfaces, but i'm sure it will give you a good opportunity to grow as a painter

Some pictures would be cool thanks, but if you follow the link, I already have a fair sized army well on its way. I don't have any intention of changing this tomb stalker, just had a photo which looked OK.
As far as being a little flat, yes, I see what you mean there, and so at some point I will come back to this, but I have a few other things to paint yet. I'm hoping that I will learn better techniques as I paint the army, so I can go back through and improve, but right now I'm aiming for table quality.

IMHO, a bit bland. Maybe give it a rusted appearance, a dusty appearance, a retro appearance or something that fits the necrons super advance and super old fluff.

How did you go about building the Tomb Stalker? i have seen a couple of tutes that suggest running a wire through the middle otherwise it is a nightmare.
I've had one for ages but am scared to startt putting it together for fear of getting it wrong.

Yeah a wire through the middle works pretty well, and easier to pose over some form of terrain, but not glued on.

Yeah well any advice is helpful I guess. I'd like to point out this is my first army, but rust or dust could work nicely thanks, and it's that type of thing I intend to go back and do later really.
A large portion of the warriors I got from a friend already had some rust (some very well rusted), the heavy rust I dry brushed mithril silver over so they didnt stand out too much, and I may as well add a photo this evening.
If you have any examples of rust, dust or retro I would love to see, thanks.

When i did rust i used to use GW Dark Flesh as a base colour for it and then stipple small amounts of Blazing orange over the top (not sure what these colours are called now though).
