I'm painting up a 600pts, 27-strong urban Space Wolves army, and I was wanting to know what people reckon is the best scheme that gets the 'Eavy Metal sort of colouration, without one having to buy thirty different paints?

Used to be 50/50 Shadow Grey and Spacewolf Grey, not sure on the new names, I think The Fang and Fenris Grey?

My current plan (follow the paint scheme in White Dwarf) requires the following:

That's 32 paints, which is £73.60 by GW pricing. So not very economical!

Yeesh. You can cut down on that if you're not going for super high quality. All the detail bits can be one color and a wash and it'll look passable. Easier, too!

My method: prime black, basecoat Shadow Grey, wash with Devlan Mud, done. Simple but effective. Check out my gallery.

I don't like the dark grey look. I prefer light grey or blue-grey. But thanks anyway.

I think that armour is the main difficulty. Anyone got any ideas for light grey or blue-grey? I can cut down on the other areas pretty easily.

How would you guys do flesh or hair (black and grey predominantly)
