Right then, my friend has just started to show an interest in flames of war and wants to collect the Finnish so I have tried to come up with a list that would enable him to have the best choices possible, this is what I have so far. I would like to say that I don't have a great deal of experience either with or against the Finns so any and all help would be greatly appreciated.

Finland

Well I have some experiance playing againt Finns as my friend has Jääkärikomppania.
As with all Finns (and other FV troops) they are damn hard to dig out and damn hard to win in assaults.

But for your list. I'd drop those T-26s as those are just to obsolete in late war (I assume you are going to play late war).
Instead take another Heavy Anti-tank Gun Platoon and you'll have better chances against tank heavy armies.

AA is good having a dual role and protecting your tanks and arty from planes.

One thing I'm not sure is, you've 3 indirect units (mortars and 2 artillery) perhaps change mortars or another arty into a third Jalkaväki platoon.
You can cover a larger area in defence and they can be a delaying force giving your mobile tanks time to act and the two other Jalkaväki platoons to clear other areas.

Don't do this, T-26s are extremely cheap and they are still tank teams. Don't expose them to enemy fire and use them as a counter attack force against infantry and to counter light armour. They are a soild option that I use myself (in fact they are my only armour).

Its not my ideal list but it should work ok.

I would keep the 3 templates but more infantry would also work in your favour, 2 will have difficulties holding the line and attacking will be difficult. Personally I would drop the heavy artillery (or the Sturmis) and the PaK40s and replace them with a Jalkavaki platoon, a mortar platoon and a full panzerfaust tank hunter platoon.

Do not underestimate the Squats. They survived for millenia cut off from the Imperium and assailed on all sides. Their determination and resilience is an example to us all.

Don't take the Lahtis, in LW they are hopeless. Upgrade them to Panzershrek teams. Drop one of the T-26 to pay for them.

It looks a bit better but your are relatively vulnerable to enemy armour now. Finns can't have everything though

Its very similar to my own list but I run an elite Jalkavakia list so I can't afford the Stumis

This is mine;

HQ 2 Panzershreks

Full Jalkavaki platoon, panzerfaust

Full Jalkavaki platoon, panzerfaust

1 section MG platoon (combat attached out)

Full Mortar Platoon

Full Heavy Mortar Platoon

Full tank hunter platoon, all with panzerfausts

Full Pioneeri Platoon, panzerfaust, supply truck

Artillery battery (122mm howitzers)

4 T26

8 platoons, 3 templates,4 crappy tanks and a minefield. On the defence they are a nightmare, on the attack they tend to get slaughtered; Finnish infantry won't be winning tournaments but they are fun list to play.

Cheers for sharing that, as I say my friend is more in line with the fun side of the game at the moment, I don't think he'll be playing many tournaments to win any time soon
