So the other day my friend asked me what was the least played race in warhammer and that got me thinking, as I didn't know.
So guys what do you think it is?

BLOOD FOR THE BLOOD GOD
SKULLS FOR THE SKULL THRONE
MILK FOR THE CORNFLAKES

Either the Sisters of Battle or the Black Templars. My gut tells me the SoB.

Saint Celestine: I used to think that being an immortal warrior of the God Emperor made relationships impossible. But then Gamers For Marines Getting Laid introduced me to a man just like me!

My vote is for the Kroot Mercs from Chapter Approved, lol.

Of the current armies in the game (not counting discontinued ones) SoB or Templar. SoB because they're bloody expensive to get and under-represented. Templar because they haven't been given any real love for a decade and there's far more interesting chapters to gravitate towards.

With an updated army book only released in White Dwarf and the previous unavailable outside of second hand sales, and the miniatures all being metal and only available through direct sales with no boxes, Sisters are for good reason.

In my area? I would say Templars, because that's the only army not represented.

Overall? I would say its a tie between Templars and SoB

Least played?
In my country it's definitely the SoB, only one guy collects them.

As for overall 40k - tie between SoB, Templars and Chaos Daemons.

The universe has many horrors yet to throw at us. This is not the end of our struggle. This is just the beginning of our crusade to save Humanity. Be faithful! Be strong! Be vigilant!

Aside from my quip about Kroot Mercs, I would say Sisters of Battle. Enough that I was very surprised when my buddy showed me a force he has in storage that he got from a friend- I thought I was the only one in the are with a Sisters army, and all of that army is from the days of late 2nd, early 3rd edition.

From what little I've seen it seems to be Sisters with Templars as a close second.

For the record, I agree with the Daemons in 3rd, either them or Dark Angels.

GW seems to deliberately shaft sisters, obviously them.

My theory on it all is that there have been confirmations here from various sources that GW's upper echelon (not the game designers) have a very poor opinion of their fanbase and basically consider them stereotypical nerds/losers. They figure that since no girls play the game, the all-girl army is more or less moot.

My Armies:
5,500pts
2,700pts
2,000pts

Sisters by far. Every other army can be bought in stores pretty easily. You have to put a little bit of effort into tracking down sister models.

Can you even buy them in GW stores anymore? I don't recall seeing them last few times I went.

False. There are some female gamers although they are a minority. There's one or two at my FLGS, and about six to ten times as many guys. So people do have a bit of a point with the lines about there being so few female gamers that GW don't bother.

I voted Black Templars because they are the only army I've never seen played at my local club. Most common tend to be Space Marines, Imperial Guard, Orks and Tau.

Apologies for talking positively about games I enjoy.

In my game room playing Specialist GW games

wow, my area must be highly unusual. there are no less than three black Templar players in my area and they bring them out regularly. But only two Eldar players. But I'm the only one that plays them regularly.

But I've never even seen a sisters of battle army. so my vote goes to them.

"Khorne is a noble warrior who respects strength and bravery, who takes no joy in destroying the weak, and considers the helpless unworthy of his wrath. It is said that fate will spare any brave warrior who calls upon Khorne's name and pledges his soul to the blood god. It is also said that Khorne's daemons will hunt down and destroy any warrior who betrays his honour by killing a helpless innocent or murdering in cold blood..."

Now I'm even more tempted to go with the Templars. Hipster Templars does have a nice ring to it.
GW should release a BT battleforce complete with a pair of thick-rimmed glasses and tight jeans!

I like to think my Eldar are unique, but with the Imperium having so many SM chapters they are definitely going to have some that are less played.

Just makes me shudder when GW updates the BT Codex... Remember when Grey Knights were laughable? Oh how about Dark eldar...? ...yeah i remember when they had no way to purchase them either...

It's definitely SoB. I had a small force back in 3rd, around 1250pts, and I was the only player at my local GW who used them on a regular basis. Now? Mine are long since sold and I haven't seen hide nor hair of any SoB since then...

Black Templars are pretty rare, not many Soul Drinkers or Tau either.

Definitely sisters! GW are missing a real opportunity to get a whole group of new players by re-doing sisters; there are quite a few women that go to Gamesdays and comicons dressed as sisters of battle.

There's no way I can respond to this thread and not have a fair number of heads explode in impotent fury.

Marneus Calgar is referred to as "one of the Imperium's greatest tacticians" and he treats the Codex like it's the War Bible. If the Codex is garbage, then how bad is everyone else?
