Definitely space marines. Any power armoured race almost never sees the table top. Totally underwhelming on the table top and the fluff is so lacking.

On a serious note, Sisters, for sure.

Sisters of Battle for sure. For my area, there are more Black Templar players than SoB players, and I'm the only SoB player. Feth, we've even had more people quit playing BT than have ever played SoB.

There is a fine line between genius and insanity and I colored it in with crayon.

In my book, yes. I started Sisters of Battle in 2nd edition, unfortunately I never got their codex.

Though if it was before Armageddon, did you play them as vanilla marines?

Yep, no special rules other than the Emperor's Champion. Back when I had a use for my Terminator Librarian with Templars paint.

Well, since you have left things rather vague, I am going to start with an army that is so far lost back in antiquity, they don't even have an option on your poll.

1. Daemonhunters
2. A tie between Sisters of Battle, Black Templars, and Dark Angels. However, i find it funny, because I have diehard black templar and dark angel players in my town.

"There is a cancer eating at the Imperium. With each decade it advances deeper, leaving drained, dead worlds in its wake. This horror, this abomination, has thought and purpose that functions on an unimaginable, galactic scale and all we can do is try to stop the swarms of bioengineered monsters it unleashes upon us by instinct. We have given the horror a name to salve our fears; we call it the Tyranid race, but if is aware of us at all it must know us only as Prey."

Sisters of Battle for me, in our club even Squats see more time on the table than the sisters. Last time I saw them was at least 3 or 4 years ago.

Seriously though, SoB is a rarity around here, I know one guy who used to play them, but they got stolen, and that is it. Black Templars on the other hand, are almost overplayed here. I would say that locally about 15% of the players I see either run Templars as their main army, or have them as a second army.

They are a good army and competitive. I know about 4-6 people with SOB armies locally and play them my self. That being said, compared to the number of other armies in the area? Least represented.

I've never seen an Eldar army played. Local seems to be GK, Cron, IG (lots of this), CSM, and SM. with a smattering of the rest; except Eldar.

BT or SoB.

We have one BT player in my area, and 1 SoB player on the books.

About 15 SM players of various stripes.
3 Eldar players.
3 GK players
1 Daemons player
1 guard player.
3 necron players
no tau players (2 have armies but haven't played with them since 4th ed)

I'm OVER 50 (and so far over everyone's BS, too).

My group, it'd be Black Templars, I've never seen them, aside from one codex left laying around that no one ever claimed.

Everything else is represented, but Dark Eldar and Eldar only have a single player, though one guy just bought a Dark Eldar army, so that's going to change.

We've even got a regular sisters player; bounced between them, Chaos and Space Wolves, he's a trifle scatterbrained.

Therefore, I conclude, Valve should announce Half Life 2: Episode 3.

Ive seen one guy play sisters, but now he's play DE so I havent seen them in a while. Frankly, I dont think I have seen any Black Templars, but I still voted for sisters because BT are basically space marines and if I saw a BT army I probably would have thought they just played it as space marines now.

Agreed, what baffles me is how that is even the case when the original op is just asking "in your opinion what is least played race in 40k?". *shrug* oh well i suppose people need to feel like they could bring the whole thing down with a few words.

Sisters should be removed from the poll because obviously they are the least played. GW doesn't even sell their boxes anymore! For all intents and purposes they are a discontinued faction.

The real race here is for who is "second"

I have a whole crapload of Templars that I play as codex Marines now... it makes me very sad they haven't seen an update in TEN YEARS.

Playing Codex: Assasins (released for THIRD edition) is illegal. It was made obsolete by Codex: WhitchHunters (In turn made semi-obsolete with Codex: Grey Knights).

Codex: Black Templars was released in 2005. 2012-2005=7. Still slow, but not 10 years... yet.
