Recreated with LEGO.

The plural of LEGO is LEGO.

Legos is a pasta sauce here.

First, there is no grammatical rule that says a proper noun cannot be used to refer to a countable object. “Mac” is a proper noun. It’s a name of a product but it is also used to refer to the individual Macintosh machines, i.e., “Macs”. Think of car companies, like Honda, BMW, and Porsche. When we refer to their cars, we say, “Hondas”, “BMWs”, and “Porsches”. BMW’s own site uses the plural form: “Today’s BMWs are equipped with...” And, Porsche’s own site says, “Barely any two Porsches are identical.”

So, “LEGOs” is perfectly fine if you are referring to the pieces of LEGO.

It is only wrong to say “LEGOs”, if you are referring to the brand or company.

And, this should be a separate issue from how the company officially uses the term for their internal and external marketing.

They could have their own policy but that does not make “LEGOs” grammatically incorrect.

When the maker refers to their stuff in plural it is always with the "LEGO" form, not LEGOs.

So in this case, what they say is right.

Plus, Legos just sounds stupid. Especially with an American accent, Goddamn Son. Goddamn.

Interesting how he makes the mini-figs of children shorter by taking off the legs and replacing with different parts. I never thought of that.

Technically Lego is the brand and therefore Legos is the incorrectly punctuated Lego's insinuating Brand ownership.
The product itself are called bricks, but to call them by the brand would more correctly be Lego in both the singular and the plural.

As in:
"Here is something I made out of Lego"
"Son, pick up your Lego before it are stood accidentally on and broken"

In full it would read:
"Here is something I made out of Lego bricks"
"Son, pick up your Lego bricks before they are accidentally stood on and broken"

Therefore it does sound gramarically incorrect to say:
"Here is something I made out of Lego's"
"Son, pick up your Lego's before they are accidentally stood on and broken"

I drive an Audi, which is to say that I drive an Audi brand car.
I don't drive an Audi's. That would sound silly.

And whilst we're at it, for anybody who's interested – it's "anyway" not "anyways". "Anyways" just doesn't make any sense. We talk about one man but many men, but we call mankind "man". It's the same with way in anyway.

I will continue to call it Legos when referring to an amount greater than 1, and you can have my apparently "poor" grammar when you pry it from my cold dead hands!

And when I yell at my son to pick up his LEGOS, it usually is preceded by me stepping on a LEGO, then while trying to catch my balance, stepping on another LEGO with my other foot.

Better lay low before the Australian Grammar Police beat me down

Should be easy enough to pry it from your cold dead hands.

They'll be holding guns, anyway.

Nah, Aussie Grammar Police won't beat you down. They don't think they are the US armed forces.

Your kid wouldn't leave his LEGO laying around if you were a better parent.

(As a child, we were taught to put our stuff away after playing with it - if parental units stepped on it, we lost it. )

Well yeah I'll be holding guns, I am American, it will be stepping on one of my son's LEGOS and then tripping down the stairs subsequently shooting myself that will have killed me in the first place lol.

That's why my post count is low for how long I have been here, I spend most of my time in the hospital wit accidental gunshot wounds incurred while stepping on a Lego, its the AMURICIN way!

And your right, I am a terrible parent, with all the loaded assault weapons in my home I am surprised my kid even has time to play with LEGOS, I figured he'd be out shooting cats and stuff *shrug*. Guess he gets his non violent ways from his mom, she's Italian. :-)

To try and get the thread back on topic, here is a famous scene from Star Wars done in stop-motion animation with LEGO.

That scene rocks.

P.S. added the orange for correctness.

Awesome.

I didn't even know that stop-motion Lego was a thing.

Wow, those make the ones me and my dad made when I was younger look like straight to tv movies lol, I plan to do some stop motion movie with my son when he gets older, although not quite to that level.

He loves the lego city stuff and is getting a ton of it for Christmas so I need to start thinking of what our movie is gonna be all about

By the way, I researched Lego vs Legos a bit yesterday.

It seems that the word derives from ancient Greek, Lego = brick, and the correct plural is Legoi.

So you're all wrong!

Sometime ago someone did a project that involved taking one of the star wars films, breaking it up into like 15 second clips, and having random people film there own version of those 15 seconds.

Such an awesome idea, wish someone would do that again. Would have a blast doing that.

They did it again this past October, with Empire Strikes Back. The video editing murdered my computer and I couldn't get the finished scene submitted in time

Shame, too, as I was able to convince my father (very old, stern Italian man) to actually dress up and run Palpatine's lines in the hologram-communication-with-Vader scene.

Ha! Back in highschool when I worked with a friend filming movies, it was always fun trying to convince older people to help us out by acting questionably in front of a camera. Still remember asking a friends dad if we could borrow his chainsaw. Good times.
