So, I'm a long time 40k player, and I've played a couple of test games with my friends armies, and now I mostly know how to play, I want to get my first army. I have daemons from 40k, but understand they are pretty damn cheesy, so I want one of these armies.

Ogres, I love because of the sheer lack of subtlety of fielding an all monstrous infantry hoard.

Equally, I love the thought of rising hoards of undead in different formations, and I have played with them and they are a lot of fun.

So what does dakka think? Are there anything I should know about either army before collecting them? Any tips?

Kind Regards,

-orange

If you want both brutality and undead, try Tomb Kings. Their pretty nasty in combat and not bad at shooting and magic. But if you want to choose between those two, it depends what you want:
Ogres are mild in shooting and are based around a few elite units and are good in combat and shooting. Their brutes and one of the cheaper armies to buy.
If you don't care so much about money, Vampires have a devastating magic phase and really good in combat (But not so in shooting) but they are based around mainly cheap, not so good core units and a few elite units and Vamps.
Its also the feel of the army for you and the look. Do you want to have a quickly painted hoard or a few nicely detailed units?
Don't get me wrong, I love VC, but its Quality VS Quantity. DO you want quantity or quality

Thanks, I think I may go for vampires then, but I will have a test game playing as ogres first.
