Every now and then the ACLU and I get along.

"Rita Sklar, executive director of ACLU-Arkansas, said that aspects of Paragould Police Chief Todd Stovall's plan to have officers dressed in SWAT gear and armed with AR-15 assault rifles demanding ID from citizens in high crime areas shows that he has "zero understanding of Constitutional rights, period." Meanwhile, the Paragould PD issued a statement yesterday cancelling further town hall meetings on the proposal, citing "public safety" concerns after a growing backlash about the proposal."

You should give the ACLU another chance. It suffers from an unfortunate assosiation with luminaries like the Reverend Sharpton and his ilk. In large part they stand up for all of our rights even when it's unpopular.
Alabama's law is clear that reasonable suspicion of felonious activity is required to stop and demand identification. So this doesn't even fit into AL law.

I'd give good money to the ACLU if they defended the Second Amendment and got off the righteous crusade against dumb little things like the Ten Commandments in a courthouse. While I agree actually, there are much bigger fish to fry.

Meh, there are plenty of 2A lobbyists who are less concerned with the 4th and 5th. The ACLU fills that gap. Thier 1A crusade could easily be picked up by someone else, but shrug.

This. The 2nd Amendment has the NRA solely devoted to it, and I wouldn't be surprised if the NRA's budget is bigger than the ACLU's.

This, very much this. I don't understand why many self-professed libertarians loathe the ACLU when they very much are on the same side, generally.

Even better, AR has a flimsy stop and identify law based on loitering.

I know this is one group of the police doing this but it's just another BS move for the government to take away our rights as citizens and turn this into a police state. After 9/11 they throw out things like indefinite detention under suspicion of terrorism, wire-tapping and mild forms of torture. It's just another example of our country slowly becoming a police state. No matter where you stand on gun rights that's a shot at becoming a police state too i think by taking away guns. So what next people policing the streets and enforcing curfew, re-education camps and taking away people that think differently and are considered a threat and nobody ever hearing from them again? People are using this 'fear of terrorism' or 'shootings' to take advantage of people's emotions and override their reasoning to advance their own political agendas even if it means making us the bad guy we seeked not to become and to fight against.

It's time to wake up sheeple, the police state is coming. All that is left to do is ask your self what are YOU going to do?

A) Yes sir, no sir, I'l jump as high as you want sir, what colour was that again sir?

B) Refresh the liberty tree.

Your future is your's to goven as you see fit, if you have the will to grasp it.

But I have have no morsel to share, nor anything to eat. But wait, what is that stickiness upon your feet.
Ah now I have you, now I can eat. Now I can enjoy you, or store you as meat.
For I am the spider, and you are the fly. How else could it have gone, between one such as you, and one such as I.

Follow the masses in everything and don't step away from the herd to be an individual to think for your self and be your self. - sheeple

that was not retoric it was the plain unvarnished truth now please do not put words in my mouth.

Everyone has power over their future , and you change it with every choice you make, be it big or small. Only a fool would say he has not choice.
