Hey guys, I just picked up the Call of Cthulhu LCG and love it. My buddy and I are leaving in a few hours to go pick up packs, probably an entire expansion set each (6 boosters). I'm a fairly big fan of Hastur (King in Yellow) and The Deep creatures, including Cthulhu himself. My friend loves Yog Sothoth and Hastur's group as well. Are their any suggestions as to which expansion lines would benefit these groups the most? All we have are a core set each, so far, so go nuts with suggestions-they're all appreciated. We haven't looked on the database for cards yet, I thought I'd come here for ideas from people who have played it.

If your starting out the Deluxe expansions would probably be a better bet.
But if you have your heart set on expansion sets and my memory serves me correctly you'll want Forgotten Lore and your friend will want Summons of the Deep. There are a ton of expansions for this game, best of luck finding them all though.

I actually ended up picking up The Yuggoth Contract, packs 3 and 6 of Summons of the Deep, and Seekers of Knowledge. My friend picked up the Silver Twilight box set, and Rituals of the Order, I believe, so that he could get the 8th family. It was a pretty good haul for us, and I'll be snagging the rest of SotD as soon as I can, as well as the Forgotten Lore series. Both of us want the MiGo characters as they're like Slivers in Magic, and that was our favorite group in that game before we both quit.

It's a fun game, I just wish it would support more then 2 players.

It does: they have instructions for it online, which really don't require much: each person has the 3 story cards in front of them, when you play against one, your opponents have to quickly decide to jump in to try to stop you, first one to jump in gets the option to block you. It actually lends itself to a fast paced multiplayer, and looks like a blast to play with 4 people. Our group will have 4 people and 4 box sets within a couple days, so...4 player is definitely a go. Should set up a webcam sometime and play a 2 player game, if you'd be game for it. Just from the cards I have already, I could theoretically claim a full story on my first turn so far! I'm quite happy with my Miskatonics.

I've tryed the 4 player rules..... It turns the game into, who in your gaming group do you like to screw over the most... it makes it not my kind of game. If I'm looking to play a more then 2 player LCG I'll go with Invasion.

We just tried out the 4 player today and had an absolute blast with it-it was preferred over Invasion, actually, which is the game we started with. In Invasion, if you have a bad pull, you're likely to be eliminated by somebody fairly quickly as an easy mark. When we played CoC today, one person was doing really well and the other two guys worked to keep him at bay, then one of those two guys came out and snagged two stories. I used Hastur, removed terror and willpower from all opponents, and used the 4-cost card to drive everybody insane except two of my guys. I had the worst start, and managed to win the game because nobody could deal with my late game stuff. In Invasion, that never would have happened. Wouldn't happen in Game of Thrones either. Definitely a well enjoyed multiplayer game, and everyone agreed.

For you CoC player(s)...do any of you have a gamestore nearby that still has "In Memory of Day" and "Twilight Horror" from the Dreamscape cycle sitting on the racks/shelves? I'm trying to get two packs for myself and a friend, and the internet has none...
