I don't have my BRB on hand to make specific rule-readings and interpretations (and was never good at that anyway), but I had a question on multi-squad units deepstriking, i.e. Infantry Platoon which takes up 1 FOC but consists of multiple individual units. If they are set to deepstrike (i.e. Elysian Droptroop infantry platoon, including attached Valkyrie dedicated transport and drop sentinels), how would that play out? Initially, I figured it'd work similarly to Combat Squads and deepstriking in that you roll for the unit, but you CS on deployment. Then I realized that CS was a special rule, and had been FAQ'd as such to say that too.

Therefore,
1. When choosing to deploy for reserves, would you have to choose if the entire platoon deepstrikes, or only the components of it. How does the platoon count towards determining 50% reserves max deployment, as one entity or multiple? When rolling for reserves, do you roll one for each unit, or just one roll for the entire platoon? I seem to recall reading somewhere (it could've been a YMDC thread) that you roll for the entire platoon as opposed to each individual.
2. If they're rolled as one FOC slot, when deepstriking, would they each pick their own location to deepstrike into versus one big clusterf- and thus each have their own DS scatter rolls? Using the Combat Squad example, they only become separate units AFTER deepstriking down as one squad with one scatter roll.
3. If the Valkyrie comes in from deepstrike in this manner, is there any way for them to be in Zooming as opposed to Hover?

1) You can choose some of the components
2) Theyre rolled together, but are separate units so must choose their own locations
3) Yes, you choose for it to be DS. However the models on board dont get to disembark (BRB FAQ)

Doesn't point 1 and 2 contradict themselves in that in 1, you're treating them all as separate units but in point you you're treating them as one same unit?

Also, the BRB FAQ doesn't address if deepstriking flyers need to be in Hover mode.

They are separate units for all purposes (unless "blobbed" together), but the IG codex specifically makes you roll reserves for all units within a platoon as if they were one, unless you've placed any of them into non-dedicate transports (valkyries/vendettas, generally).

Thanks. It never occurred to me to check the IG Codex (which I don't have) since the Elysian list is in IA:8, but I'll go hunt down a copy today at my FLGS. So going by the assumption that A) they are separate units for almost all purposes, and B) reserve rolls are made at one go, am I right to say that I can technically deploy my heavy weapon teams and the PCS, while deepstriking the special weapon squads, infantry squads, and sentinels?

And what do you mean, "unless blobbed together"?

Infantry Platoons have the Combined Squads special rule where the 2-5 infantry squads (not including the platoon command squad, heavy weapon squads, special weapon squads, or conscripts squad, which can also be taken as part of a platoon) can "blob" together into larger combined units at deployment.

And yes, I believe you can Reserve some of the units within a platoon while deploying others.

Just picked up a Codex: IG and spoke to some of the local IG players about it, and the general consensus seems to agree. Wheee! Thanks a lot!
