I am going on a trip to philly tomorrow, and will be back in pittsburgh three days after. I hear that there is a Games Workshop hobby center there, and I would like to know the following:

-are they likely to stock forge world models?
-are the rules for the grot tanks in imperial armor 8?
-are they likely to stock imperial armor books.?

I would like to know this by noon (U.S. Eastern Standard Time) tomorrow, so that I can plan accordingly. Thanks.

Games Workshop stores don't stock FW of any kind; they used to stock the books, but do not any more.

Grot Tanks do, however, appear in Imperial Armour 8, but if you want FW, you're stuck ordering them from the UK or an online reseller.

Therefore, I conclude, Valve should announce Half Life 2: Episode 3.

Forgeworld is a sub-department of Games Workshop that makes more details and slightly more expensive models for use in 40k and WFB.

Thanks, major. I guess I'll just buy something else on this trip, then... ( , if you catch my meaning)

@goatsticks: http://www.forgeworld.co.uk/ has very expensive models, but really high quality, but mostly designed for those who feel comfortable working with resin. Don't forget the obligatory at the models, and the also obligatory at the prices.

To be fair, some GW shops have Imperial Armor books. But it would be exceedingly rare to find any with FW models.

I bought the badab war ones from a local GW this summer.

It's a possibility they'll have the IA books, my store still has more than half of them in stock. You will almost certainly not find any models however, and yes the Grot Tanks are in IA8.

They'll most likely have FW books in stock. Not very many, but possibly 2 to 3. GW stores never carry forgeworld models and you cannot order forgeworld stuff from a GW store.

I'd always wondered why they would refuse to sell Forgeworld kits in their stores. Then I realized it was because they could make more money y charging you for the shipping on top of the already insane prices. (Albeit recently, the prices aren't much higher than regular Games Workshop. Not because they've dropped, but because the regulars have gone up)

Think of something clever to say.

Books with fluff, campaign rules and additional units for use in 40k or Apocalypse.

Wrong.

It's mostly about supply and shelf space. It would take a lot more production capacity than Forgeworld has to provide even a basic selection of model to all stores, and one of the big problems that the Battle Bunkers experienced back when they'd keep a full stock of FW on hand was that most of it, especially the big models, were very slow moving.

For us in Oz, FW is often cheaper than direct GW.

This makes up somewhat for the rest of the price imbalance.

Exactly.

And you're also wrong if you think they make a significant profit off shipping. Go look up the cost of international shipping sometime, if anything their 15% shipping cost is too low and some of the real shipping cost is already included in the price of the model.

There is no such thing as a hobby without politics. "Leave politics at the door" is itself a political statement, an endorsement of the status quo and an attempt to silence dissenting voices.
