Aren't there already a few mixed geneseed chapters in the confirmed fluff?

IIRC a lot of the cursed founding were mixed geneseed chapters and I know that the relictors are supposedly a combination of DA and Ultramarine geneseed.

Yes that was already discussed in the thread, the problem is that this confirmation brings up problems when creating fluff, if you want to have acmxed heritage chapter you have to address these issues. Your chapter has to fall into a certain founding and has to have an abnormality (and most likely a group of inquisitors contrantly watching).

Relictors have an unknown genetic heratige but it is postulated to be either Dark Angel or Ultramarines due to the stabilty of their geneseed.

its safe to say that relictors are the greatest army a man , nay human can own.

If youre having a problem justifying your use of both, just say they are one army and each "codex" is their own unique company.

Thats what I do. I paint them all up the same scheme, but my C:SM force is the "main force", my Deathwing army is my "elite company", and when I get around to a BA force they will be the "assault company". Good luck!

I am glad to see that i am not the only one who does this. If you want to take it a step further you could also use Grey Knights as masters of the Librarium.

@OP good luck with your fluff man I hope you are able to have as much fun as possible and don't get doused with hateraid when you go to play.

While Dark Angels successors are now rarely created they are still possible, however Blood Ravens would never be chosen, half of their chapter has directly fallen to chaos (including its chapter master).

Isn't the Blud Rehvens primarch Magnus the Red? That's a pretty good reason not to use their geneseed right there.

I'm fairly sure that the Red Scorpions are descended from Fulgrim, so scratch them off the list also.

Where did Tau and Salamanders come from? Just asking, since my Chapter was going to be Dark Angels mixed with Blood Ravens...sooo....yeah.

I'm just pointing out that there are other SM players who's chapters have fluff about them being of two chapters who combined/had mixed geneseed to create a new Chapter, like myself.

I used my own chapter, who have the combined geneseed of the Howling Griffons and the Salamanders, as an example.

Maybe a Dark Founding Chapter? That's the one with all the crazy experiments (which apparently worked so well that they never tried that nonsense again, lol).

One thing to take into account when you start going all wacky with your Founding is that it is ridiculously expensive to start a new Chapter, it terms of time and assets. Building or procuring an entire Chapter Fleet, armor, tanks, weapons, etc. Not to mention the time and effort to produce 1000 Marines from scratch, etc. There is very little incentive to break from the mold. Which is probably why the Ultramarines account for the majority of the Space Marines in terms of gene seed. Just work with what you know works, right?

And a Chapter isn't going to just be smushed together out of two existing forces. Your idea would work if you just want your army to be a joint force of Dark Angels and Blood Ravens. But having them become one Chapter, nope.

That said, it's your money. Play and paint your toy soldiers however you like. The idea doesn't mesh with the established fluff very well though, if creating a "believable" back story for them is important to you.

Marneus Calgar is referred to as "one of the Imperium's greatest tacticians" and he treats the Codex like it's the War Bible. If the Codex is garbage, then how bad is everyone else?

Example Cursed Founding might of had some chapters with mix geneseed which made them so cursed. Like the Soul Drinkers that were thought to be from the Imperial Fists but they weren't.
