Subject: My Nurgle warband for Mordheim [Updated 23th january, almost done!]

So, the last months I've been on and off about what I've wanted to do after my lizardmen. I've wanted to start a mordheim warband and also thought about starting a nurgle army. Then I came up with the genius idea, why not combine the both? So basically the next weeks(maybe months ) I'll convert and paint a nurgle warband. The miniatures I've ordered won't be in for another week or so but I started early by converting a wood elf standard bearer in to a Nurgle assassin!
The old model was in metal so basically I had to cut off almost the whole left of it. The rest of the conversion was done with green stuff and a few bits and pieces. I'm quite happy with the result, even though I don't think the miniature will get any justice til I paint it! Enough writing, here are some pictures, including the original model(not my picture though).
The above is not my picture.
I'll try and keep this thread updated as I convert and paint the new miniatures. I have the following characters planned: A nurgle lord, a nurgle sorceror, a few marauders and a few plaguebearers.

That's actually a very good point. I'm going to mentally remind myself to go in my attic and look for that miniature.
Nice work by the way, curious as to why you puttied over the cloak, but I'm a big fan of the mask.

Thanks for the feedback! Basically, I cut the miniature in half, so the left part of the cloak is re-sculpted, also I think that the putty gives the cloak a more "rugged-look" as opposed to the "silky" texture the wood-elf cloak had I think the texture I'm going for will be a little clearer when I've painted it, which I'll probably do tomorrow if Im not too tired after tonight

Here is the model painted, it looks slightly messy but overall I'm happy with the results. I won't base it til I get some special stone plasticard I've ordered.

So been working on the brute strength for my warband, "the twins", anyone got a good name suggestion for them? These were made from orc boys, plaguebearers, marauder parts and green stuff. They aren't 100% finished, still going to work on details. Overall I think they look totally brutal.

Real good effort, they look cool. Those twins are suitably disgusting, looking forward to seeing them painted.

Thanks I also think the vest on the upper twin adds some comic relief to the whole thing. I mean a demon in a vest but otherwise completely naked, kinda like Donald Duck.
Edit: Will so fix the mold lines eventually but did the fun parts first!

Here are some further updates! Did some details to "the twins" backs and the first henchman.
Not a very good picture but what you can see is his spine breaking through his vest.
An oozing wound breaking through the vest.
First henchman.

This stuff is aamazing. You've got some good GS skills. Your first henchman still needs his mold lines removed.

I like the spine protruding from his back and I REALLY love that fly shield. It's very fly (badum-ching)
I built a whole mess of PB from VC zombies and a few weeks later they released the new PB kits lmao.

You should decorate the bases more IMO. They look a bit plain. Some nurgle stuff should do it.
Check out this site, it has some amazing stuff. Alot of little bits that make your models more detailed.

Yeah, I'll have to think about that a bit. Anyway I painted the first miniature, not used to painting armor since I've mainly painted lizardmen so far but quite happy with the result. Went with a dark green as the base, details in matt bronze and weapon and shoulder spike in rusted iron. Took me roughly 1,5 hours to paint this one.

Painted another miniature today, also had to reconvert his weapon as the plaguebringer head just made the staff look messy, replaced it with a scythe.

Here's another painting update, model is not finished but I'm quite happy with the model. The contrast is slightly stronger on the pic compared to RL, so the pink doesnt stand out as much in reality.

Scrazza wrote:The models look awesome painted. Mind sharing how you did the rust?
Thanks!
Sure, the rust is quite simple.
I first do a base layer with lead belcher, ironbreaker would work to. Then I wash with nuln oil. Then you got your basic silver metal. After this I usually dry brush very little with a britghter metal tone. Once I got the basic look of the weapon as I would want it if it wasn't rusted I move on to the rust.
The rust is fary simple, I use an old dry brush. The technique I use is that I put slightly watered down paints(50/50) on the tip of the dry brush, first I "stab" a piece of toilet paper til I see the brush leaves small dots and not one big dot, it's important to have the right amount of paint otherwise you wont get the desired small dots of rust. I use 4 different paints for rust, rhinox hide, mournfang brown, 50/50 mournfang brown/jokaero orange and for the final dots pure jokaero orange. Once this is done I do small highlights of silver with a detail brush on points that sticks out, like rivets and around the drilling holes.
I also make the gore effect in a similiar way, first using 50/50 chaos black and khorne red and then pure khorne red.
