Subject: CSM: 2000 pts list: Typhus and Huron Blackheart going on a crusade together...
|
 |
Khorne Veteran Marine with Chain-Axe
|
Hello everybody,
Iám making a 2000 points CSM list to play some competitive/friendly games in my local Games Workshop. I love Typhus and his zombies and i would like to combine this with some Huron Blackheart infiltrate Berserker madness. The idea is to infiltrate Huron with the Berserker squad inside the rhino somewhere close to the enemy so they can charge in turn 2. The zombies will be used as bubblewrap(humanshield) for the rest of the army and i will hide Typhus in there aswell. They will just footslug over the field and get stuck in there as soon as possible. The second and third zombie squad will go in reserve and take the backfield objective when they come on.
The bikes will try to go for heavy targets and draw away fire from the Rhino's full of Plague marines. The Plague marines will play aggressive and try and conquer an enemy objective. The Havocs and Obliterators will provide fire support and will stand/walk behind the zombies. The Plague marines will drive 18" pop smoke and disembark hidding behind the rhino to take control of midfield. Spawn will run behind the bikes and assist them in asault when needed if not they will go for a important target.
Havocs are there to deal with flyers and give firesupport for the ground troops.
Here is the list i came up with please give me feedback on the list, tactics or whatever, I would like to know all the strengths or weaknesses it has.
H.Q:
Huron Blackheart : total 160

Any tips?
I was also thinking of infiltrating a blob of zombies just to tie up the enemy and reduce the firepower so that the rest can advance with less casualties.

Dirge casters on all the Rhino's, helps reduce shooting damage on the way in and is a godsend if you end up playing a Tzeentch Flamer spam list.
Poweraxe is a good choice as in a challenge the AP2 and +strength make a lot of sense.
I'd be inclined to up the melta guns on the bikers to plasma guns, their ability to rapid fire and still charge is amazing, plus whats not to like about T6 plaguemarines?
No Hell-Turkey? Whats your plan for flyers?

Yeah i like the plasma on bikes idea i will change that.
Do you think Poweraxes are worth it on the Plague champions or will they just die horribly in challanges before they can even swing.
And no Hell-Turkey :*( i don't own the model nor do i have the funds to buy one at this time.
My plan against flyers is pretty much ignore them and destroy everything on land. It will hurt but i think the massive amount of bodies on the field can take some casualties.

Good plan vs the flyers, to be honest, thats how I'm dealing with them too :-)
Poweraxes gave me a pause for thought to be completely honest. Def give the MON dude on a bike one (afterall, he's gonna be T6, which will cause people all kinds of problems)
The trouble is I seem to remember Plague marines being Initiative 3, so odds are you will be going last anyway, so yeah, I think the Axe is a good option against most things, it'll slice and dice everything, you may end up trading off against powerfist terminators, but they'd kill you anyway......
just hope they accept the initial challenge with their Sgt with a power sword and your Toughness carries the day

At 2000 points ignoring flyers is dangerous and will become increasingly so as the new codexes bring out more flyers (as thye are bound to in an effort to flog more expensive models).
A couple of heldrakes in an opposing force could quickly get your transports with the vector strikes and wipe out your marines (once they disembark) while they stand about doing nothing much as they can not assault.
A vendetta could easily wail on your obliterators in a couple of turns (prob 3 turn as it needs to turn around!). Wipe your bikes or defiler out in one.
I would look at losing an obliterator, a plague marine, skimming some points form the zombies, skimming some from chain axes, and get some havocs with autocannons or if you find the points autocannons and a couple of flakk missle launchers. Until you get your heldrake!

I've been playing upto 1850 points with 2 units of Havocs packing AC's and ML respectively so I see where you are comoing from,
Flyers are beginning to turn up in a lot of games at my local scene (we've got 4 clubs, 5 Local GW's and 3 FLGS within easy travel distance) and with the exception of one guard player, the most people are bringing is one flyer....
I think when there are more options, you will see more, but at the moment its not the disaster everyone was worried it was likely to become (thankfully)

I see what you mean guys. Will get a havoc squad as soon as possible and maybe even a flyer altho iám not a big fan of flyers in general.
On a diffrent note what are your thoughts on the infiltrate Huron with Berserkers is it any good.
And i was wondering lets say i roll a 2-3 on the D3 infiltrate roll, is it possible to infiltrate Huron/Berserkers/Rhino and 20x zombies and Typhus. Iám not to sure about how the infiltrate counts the number of units.
Or does the infiltrate rule count the units seperate before any H.Qs have joined any squads?
Tnx for all the comments please keep them comming really itching to try this list out this weekend.

You have to give infiltrate to the character and let them join the squad and then they count as a single one of the D3 you can infiltrate.
Infiltrating huron with beserkers is good. They have to start in the rhino though so you need to get it moved and them out quick as you can so that you can assault as soon as possible. Obliterators can infiltrate to get some decent firepower right where your emeny doesn't want; or if you are deploying first you can use the ability to deploy the oblits (or any havocs you get) after the other forces has committed everthing.
I'm busy changing a razor back into a chaos rhino. Very tempted by the destroyer blades.
Good luck with it at the weekend.

really? I never cared much for tank shocking. Always viewed it as "I am out of options and desperate" but I guess destroyer blades will look cool if nothing else?

You can tank shock without them. The destroyer blades give you some propper hits. If you had three rhinos with destroyer blades (okay they would be expensive) they would be good for a charge into a big unit of orks/cultists/nids. It'll do some damage and tie them up for a turn.
If you have a landraider I would tank shock and ram away.

Now is that lack of love for flyers or 'cos you don't like the Hellturkey model?
I'm giving some serious thought to getting a couple of these bad boys.

How about bring Chaos space marines with mark of khorn and banner instead of zerkers. You could then bring some melta guns on them, and have both units of plague marines with plasmaguns. (This igves you some more scoring as well.)
I say change the Oblits to Havocs(with MoN) with A/Cs and drop the bikers for a heledrake with flamer.

Havocs with MON are so much more survivable, they still have rubbish leadership, so they are very likely to run away though (learnt that the hardway with my AC Havocs)

2D6 Roll a 7 on average and so if you keep the havoc out of combat and with the AC Ld of 9 they stay more often then they run away. They would run away 1 in 6 tests. Sounds llike you have been unlucky or let them get into combat.

I have spectacular dice, the only time they roll 6's is for leadership.
I think they have self esteem problems or something, thats the only reason I can think of why the 6's hide constantly.

It is a bit of both i don't like the design for my mostly nurgle army and i don't like how strong flyers are overall and the high prize for the model doesn't help eighter.
That insect flyer looks very interresting but i wonder will it be easy to spray and paint it?

Changerd the zombie squads into 1x 30 and 1 x 10. The 30 man zombie squad will escort Typhus the 10 man zombie squad will go reserve and act as a objective holder when they come on. I put them in reserve to minimise taking damage on the first 3 turns.
How about bring Chaos space marines with mark of khorn and banner instead of zerkers. You could then bring some melta guns on them, and have both units of plague marines with plasmaguns. (This igves you some more scoring as well.)
Iám thinking about this seems to be a great option altho i just love the fluf around Berserkers and i like to field them for the look. But i will give this idea a try. I can load out 7 with 2 closecombat weapons and 2 with melta guns and put Huron Blackheart with them, this will make a good turn 2 threat with infiltrate.
Thank you all for the comments.

I was wondering with the 7th edition are Berserkers a better option now or still sub par. Really wanna try this list out. Automatically Appended Next Post: Revised the list: Changed some units and split up the zombie squads to 3 squads instead of 2.
