Hello ladies and gentlefolk, thanks for taking the time to have a read!

Well here's an Orc & Goblin list with a twist. The list is themed towards Savage Orcs and Forest Goblin's, so any suggestions to change the list have to keep that in mind please. So minimal Warmachines and zero night goblin's.
Also this list is meant as an allied list to my Ogre Kingdoms army, but also to function as independent from it. Anyways, after the explinations now onto the list. Any CC would be most appreciated!

Lords:

Savage Orc Warboss: Sword of Bloodshed, Crown of Command. 245pts.

Savage Orc Great Shaman: Lv 4, Lucky Shrunken Head. 255pts.

Heroes:

Savage Orc Big Boss: Battle Standard, The Terrifying Mask of Eee!, Sword of Swift Slaying. 150pts.

Core:

Savage Orc Big 'Uns: x50, Additional Hand Weapons, Big Stabbas, Full command. 605pts.

Forrest Goblin Spider Riders: x10, Short Bows, Full command. 170pts.

Special:

Savage Orc Boar Boyz: x10, Additional Hand Weapons, Full Command, Banner of Swiftness. 250pts.

Savage Orc Boar Boyz: x10, Additional Hand Weapons, Full Command, Banner of Eternal Flame 250pts.

Rare:

Doom Diver Catapult: 80pts.

Total: 2000pts.

Alternatively, I have done the list above with the following tweaks:

Drop one unit of Savage Orc Boar Boyz, as well as the Banner of Swiftness. But Gain:

Core:

Forrest Goblin's (Goblin's): x50, Spears, Sheilds, 3x Nasty Skulkers, Full command. 260pts.

New Total: 2000pts.

Thoughts?

because i think 50 is unnessasary, plus the BIG spider gives you an additional hard hitter to complement the SO's

I like the list and the theme, personally I would prefer the BSB to have Mork's War Banner and Great Weapon as he'll be with the savage Horde he'll have the 5++ ward

I'd also split the Spider Riders into two units of 5 with no upgrades

Hmmm, I'm just not sure, I have an Arachnarok for SoM, and didn't want it in 2k tbh... I'll have to think about it tbh.

The Riders I can understand tbh, and was wondering about that. It's finding the points for Mork's Wb without losing something I really like lols... plus the Terrifying mask of Eee is pure comedy value lols.

If I were looking for something to drop to fit in the war abnner it'd be the kit on the BSB (obviously) the command and upgrade from the spider riders and trim down the SOBU's to fit

35-40 is probably enough Savage Orc Big 'uns. Could spend that money elsewhere.

Having that second block of infantry gobos (you do want 50 here) is useful as a tarpit as long as you keep their flanks safe.

i think your current BSB is illegal. He cannot take a magic banner AND the Sword of Swift Slaying, i would drop the banner personally, SO Big Un's will mow down anything in front of them so do you really wanted the charged unit to flee potentially leaving your units flanks exposed to counter charge.

If you did drop the banner, you could give the Crown of Command to the shaman to free up points for armour for your warboss coz if he comes up against anyone who strikes before him, his 5+ ward won't keep him alive for long.

just my opinions

The Lair of Vengeance....Poole.

Take the fencers blades on your level 4. That is a way to make him more survivable.

As much as I love the fluffy aspect, I have to say, you will get more use out of a Black orc BSB. As he can Quell animosity.

The Savage orcs are perfect. This way you get 20 ablative wounds in combat effectively.

As for special, I would drop a unit of boar boys, and take chaff, manglers and war machines,

Currently as the list above, the BSB is legal. he has no magic banner in that version of the list.

Also, I am sticking to the fluff. Savage orc's barely wear a thing, so with that, magic armour is just not something I'm prepared to take.

Thanks for your input, I tend to stick to fluff when kitting out characters so therefore fencers blades on the shaman and black orc characters are something I avoid.

Thats what I was thinking with the SO's. dropping some of them left me with uneven points which I just couldn't fill properly (I like to try and match the points to the max and fill every last aspect)

Hmmm manglers leave me cold... not only are they finecast, but EXPENSIVE... I don't think I have a spare kidney anymore for them tbh

So taking into account some of the advice given, I rejigged the list last night and came up with the following:

Lords:

Savage Orc Warboss: Sword of Bloodshed, Crown of Command. 245pts.

Savage Orc Great Shaman: Lv 4, Lucky Shrunken Head. 255pts.

Heroes:

Savage Orc Big Boss: Battle Standard, Morks War Banner 200pts.

Core:

Savage Orc Big 'Uns: x50, Additional Hand Weapons, Big Stabbas, Full command. 605pts.

Forrest Goblin Spider Riders: x5, 65pts.

Forrest Goblin Spider Riders: x5, 65pts.

Special:

Savage Orc Boar Boyz: x10, Additional Hand Weapons, Full Command, Banner of Swiftness. 250pts.

Savage Orc Boar Boyz: x10, Additional Hand Weapons, Full Command, 235pts.

Rare:

Doom Diver Catapult: 80pts.

Total: 2000pts.

Any additional thoughts?

i couldn't see another change to that list that drops one or the other.

Unless i missed something.

Anyway, based on most recent list posted.

If its fluff you want regarding the warboss then thats cool. a bit of a fan of fluff list myself.

I would however, be tempted to swap AHW on both SO Boar Boyz units for spears and be Str6 on the charge but thats just me, and if you could find another 40 points i'd give them shields as well for 4+ armour/6+ ward.

swings and roundabouts though.

The battle standard is not a magic banner until you buy one which is a magic item.

I was tempted with spears, but the utter killy nature of the SOBB's with AHW's was too tempting lols.

I don't expect this list to last against attrition armies, but I should make a mess of people before dying in a horrible but fun way lols.

Try fitting in a standard of discipline somewhere. Idk where. As for manglers, I've seen people do mini orc idols or possibly convert them out of Gobbla and the big squig from the chase.

Or use http://www.hfminis.co.uk/shop?product=roaring-mawe~hfsa306&category=miniatures~sci%252dfi-aliens

That mini is quite nice. but as I said to mixer, I'm trying to stick to fluff with these guys. and manglers are a staple of Night Goblins, which I'm not a great fan of if I'm honest. but also I'm fed up of seeing armies upon armies of them lols.

I'll switch out the banner of swiftness in favour of the banner of discipline then. I only chose swiftness as it was the first thing I saw when wanting to fill points up lols. Although I have been playing with the idea of a Black Orc Big Boss to stop the annimosity, and I'd have to drop whichever banner to make that happen :/

Ok question for you all...

Keep the two units of 5 Forest Goblin Spider Riders

OR

Have two Manger Squigs?

It really depends on what you use them for. Spider riders are cheap and have poisoned attacks. This makes them good mage snipers.

Manglers are also cheap and force your opponent to react and deal with them. It will cost him a unit, but he will have to move that unit out of position to get the squigs.

i would plump for mangler's, but wouldn't it compromise the "no Night goblin" rule of yours?

Personally I think that the two units of Spider Riders would fit the army better, as everything else has frenzy you'll need a couple of units that you can use to block frenzy baiting until you're ready to let the units off the hook.

Spider riders have more control then the manglers.

After someone mentioned an idea the other day (from reading my wip short story thats army background to the ogres, for which the orcs are allies) I was planning on making Ogre Fanatics ^_^

It just depends on the usefulness of Manglers.

As I mentioned, it depends on what you plan to use them for. Manglers are good at being cheap chaff drops that can do a fair bit of damage before dieing.

Spider riders, are a cheap chaff drop, that is used for redirecting or sniping off mages with the spiders poisoned.

its a tough decision then... some of the gamers in my FLGS have a tendency to keep changing their lists when they loose which is just annoying

I think if I am going with all out crazy (as only savage orcs can be) then Manglers would be more suitable with counts as models to fit in with their allied nature. Although I now need to perhaps edit my story now lols
