At least with the Nurgle bikers, you never have to worry about their mark going.
Not to mention that the Icon is 35 points. Even though MoN is 4 points more expensive per model, on a 3 man squad, the icon increases the overall squad cost by 23 points. If you're running a huge deathstar blob of bikers, the cost is a little more bearable, but not in a 3-man squad I think.
Has anyone ever tried to use a Bike squad for CC? What would your favorite loadout for such a role be and how successful has it been? I've typically given the BIke Champion a Power Fist while my Lord takes a Lightning Claw, or vice versa.
the whole point of slanessh bikers is that you are going to take a large squad and use them for CC.
Hammer of wrath and then 3 attacks per base at init5 will wipe a lot before you get struck back.
Deathstar yay! But then I don't get troops-choice my favorite, very tough, objective-squatting Plague Marines. :(

I'll wait till GW releases bike squad sets rather than bikers one-by-one.

The old set, I believe, came with a Terminator Lord, 5 Terminators, 15 Marines, 8 Berzerkers, 5 Possessed, 2 Spawn, a Defiler, and was only marginally more expensive than the current battleforce's pricing.

A death star... yes, but damn they look and are pretty good, specially on those games that i get invisibility on the sorcerer, T5 marines with 2+ cover save, not much can stop them from delivering the juggy, and by having a sorc and a champ I can administrate the challenges to make the most dmg out of the juggy
Wow. That is a... really expensive lord-delivery-vehicle.
It isn't just a delivery unit, with the sorc and plasmas you get a good ammount of AP2 shots (2x plasmaguns & the telepathy primaris), if you get lucky and get invis, you got a relly resilient unit that when gets into combat, treat anything they are in CC with as WS1, meaning the whole unit hits on 3's and get hit back on 5's. I've been rolling 1 biomancy 2 telepathy, whenever the sorc gets enfeeble or iron arm, it get really ugly, T8 S8 AP2 (due to power axe), had that unit dealt with some termies + HQ, the sorc accepted the HQ challenge, being T8 he survived, and then proceded to instakill the HQ, while the lord killed most of the termie bodyguards.

I was thinking that too. Could very well stick the CSM Biker Bitz or Night Lords Bitz on them to Chaos-ify them, but I still feel like it wouldn't be enough (although the DV ones aren't too shabby too)

The previous battleforce was a squad of csm, a squad of berzerkers, a squad of possessed, and a rhino.
What your describing is most likely a megaforce, and it cost WAY more.

I've been running two units of unmarked bikers, each five strong with dual plasma, and they've been working out quite well so far. I run an Alpha Legion list with a counts-as Huron infiltrating things forward, and two units of deep-striking terminators, which tends to take a lot of the pressure off of the bikes themselves, allowing them to act as a pretty solid support unit.
Units of three bikers each just died too quickly to earn their points back, and melta bikes seemed to die without getting close enough to take out any notable targets. The increased range on the plasma has meshed much more nicely with the rest of the army.

Your missing the point.
You can make a squad of 10 pretty nasty slaanesh bikers for under 265 points, which includes the icon. A deathstar usually costs 500+.
That's makes the slaanesh bike squad cool. For the cost of 1 normal deathstar, you can bring 20 bikers! Thats an ass-ton of attacks that will hit on turn 2.
