GW Rules Interpretation Syndrom. GWRIS. Causes people to second guess a rule in a book because that's what they would have had to do in a GW system.

Looks good, too bad the rule books are just expensive

The app might be worth the No Quarters alone, depending on how far back you can go.

Simon says (lel) that it will have every single issue of NQ since MKII available.

What's the going rate on a NQ? This app might be worth the costs lol. If they could cut a discount on the subscription, it would probably be no different than any other digital magazine description and with the ability to buy specific issues, nice...

No word from Simon on the price, but there are some pictures from the press release that have prices in them.

Looks like about a 20% discount across the board. For comparison, that's about the same that GW is offering White Dwarf at in the eFormat.

However, the GW digital rulebooks certainly are not discounted. Like many, I may have to check this out simply for the No Quarter issues.

I don't know why people like NQ-- just like WD before it, I dropped it when I realized I was paying a dollar or more for content that was both actual content and not going to be available elsewhere...

The only reason why I'd want it is for the various hobby articles. Mostly the terrain pieces... Thus why I want the ability to buy specific issues.

Hopefully it works on all androids this time. They had a LOT of trouble with all the various android platforms working before.

I still have issues with War Room... I'll start it up, close out to save power, and I go to open it up and it says it has to close. I think Tinkerhouse Games believes it's a feature. Also I dislike how it doesn't take into account point cost changes, all my Magnus lists look illegal when looking at the point costs...

Interesting, though no real good answer as to why they need a third party app. GW has already demonstrated live updates are possible through Apple's iBook and I'm pretty sure similar features exist with the Kindle Reader.
Only logic I can think of is to avoid having to pay Apple or Amazon a cut to sell the product. Strikes me a bit of penny wise, pound foolish. Especially given their track record with apps currently.
Also there was no firm commitment to price beyond an "Industry Standard". That leaves a lot of wiggle room.

Also cuts piracy if they're using a proprietary format and software. It's pretty damn easy to pirate ePubs, PDFs and such.

I'm pretty sure that the PP e-reader will be hacked as easily as other e-readers. Worse, by going with their company specific e-reader, PP will have to commit its own resources to fix these issues and any other bugs that pop up. By going with Kindle/Apple, software maintenance would handled by those companies.

PDFs of everything hits the torrents in no time anyway. It'll stop casual piracy and sharing files among friends, but that's about it.

It's a rough trade off as they limit their customer base for digital products to those with iOS and Android devices.

Me? I won't buy any document linked with a special app, OS or licensing agreement where the publisher can theoretically turn off my access in the future. I only support DRM free eBook publishers, so I won't be getting this.

Actually, LeewayHertz would be the ones addressing those issues and bugs. You know, the guys making the e-reader?

The more I think about it, the fact that NQ won't be avail in the iBook store sucks. I imagine it will simply be a lazy PDF port with no value added except this proprietary interface.

Say what you want about the content of white dwarf: the digital version is absolute aces.

I need an android device... mostly for War Room, but it'd be nice to be able to get this later on (once they work out the kinks )

Windows Phone, why do you hate me so?

Wouldn't be entirely sure of that. Given what we know of the developer, I'd expect something beyond just a scanned copy of the magazine.

I'm willing to give it a shot. So long as Tinkerhouse had nothing to do with it.

Yea, and they will be asking for money from PP to fix it.

Yeah. I looked at their portfolio. They have some experience with ereader type apps, so we shall see. Here's to thinking positively.
