Looking through the Errata and noticed the change to Plague Zombies being "Cultists with Feel No Pain, Fearless and Slow and Purposeful". The way RAW are now, they can not only purchase more models, but have their armor and pistol/CCW back. Am I wrong and missing something here? Does anyone question this?

The errata only changes the one line in the Chaos codex, it does not replace the entire thing.

How do you figure it only replaces one sentence?

Page 61 – Typhus, Plague Zombies
Change to ‘Plague Zombies are Chaos Cultists that have the
Fearless, Feel No Pain and Slow and Purposeful special rules
and cannot purchase options other than to add additional
models to the unit.’

here we see the exact errata saying to change the text under "Plague Zombies". Note it does not specify only a portion of that text, but the bulk of it.

Page 69 – Axe of Blind Fury
Change first rules sentence to ‘Models with the Mark of
Khorne, or Daemons of Khorne, only.’

Here we have the next errata entry replacing only a single sentence. This one does specify that.


I would say that they have all their weapons and permission from the brb to use them in all regular ways.

And it also conveniently removes the text which implied that they can't fire a quad gun.

They could always fire a quad gun, it just use to say they had no guns

Because they say change to, and not replace with. so you just change that one sentence.

The original text says "Plague Zombies: Any Chaos units... in the same army as Typhus can be nominated as Plague Zombies. Plague Zombies are Chaos Cultists that have the
Fearless, Feel No Pain and Slow and Purposeful special rules and cannot purchase options. They are armed with a single CCW -any guns are used strictly for the purposes of clubbing their victims to death."

If you replace that rule with the FaQ you can never get the zombies anyway since you have to ignore the "Any Chaos units... in the same army as Typhus can be nominated as Plague Zombies" bit.

Therefore there is no way to even take them if your interpretation of 'the FaQ replaces the whole rule' is used.

Which does not matter because you can never field them if you use the replaces the entire rule, instead of changing the line that starts with "Plague Zombies are Chaos Cultists..."

The term Plague Zombies is just a name, these 'Cultists' still have FNP, S&P, and Fearless, which is the whole awesomeness of what we call Zombies. Now at least they retain and shoot their pew-pew guns, and legitimately have 35 in a squad.

Just got my horde of 80 in the mail, time to get some more paint....

How do they " retain and shoot their pew-pew guns"? The rules say they are only armed with a single CCW.

They don't retain their pew-pew guns for simple reason: There are only two ways to intrerpret that errata

1) The change is only for single sentence. This means that the "armed with single CCW" restriction is still in place.

2) That errata replaces the whole rule. Unfortunately, this removes the portion of the rule that states "Any Chaoes cultist unit in the same army...", which means you will not have any Plague Zombies in your army list.

So which interpretation do you choose?
