I think my math is correct, but not 100% sure since it was done by hand. If you find a problem, kindly point it out.

Ok, so the prince and all four nobles go with the dragon princes. they run 5 wide, and when they get into combat, they all displace the command group. Archmage stays on a corner of the spear horde, gets into combat and just chills, then casts the 12" radius version of Savage beast. 31 attacks, at strength 9, with ASF, WS 6-7, and I 7-8, in every round of combat. Great saving throws on the entire group, each one can dish it out in a challenge, and if need be, I can break off the entire front line to go attack something else while the dragon princes do their thing.

And if push comes to shove, I can always just turn my mage into a dragon

Can anyone think of any improvements on the gear of the nobles? I was going for similarity among them, but basically it's a 1+/2+ vs. shooting, 2+/3+ in combat, as many armor re-rolls as I can get, and as many 4+/5+ wards as seemed affordable/appropriate. They also have a 2+ ward vs magic, and the 2+ ward vs flaming. Great weapons seemed the best bang for the buck.

Prince could use the Enchanted shield and or charmed shield. Enchanted gives you a 1+4++ and charmed shield gives you a 2+4++. This also saves you some points around 15 ish or so.

If somebody used chaff,, what would be your answer to address this. Couple of chaff could force your bank roll unit out of the game. That or you charge the chaff each turn only to be counter charged in the flank?

With a spear unit that size,, maybe the bsb on foot with the banner of the world dragon would be better? That way your AM is safe ....

Can't remember but can the nobles also wield bows.

I didnt see the magic shields as tertibly useful. None of the characters will get a parry save or an ability to use the shield in combat, so a standard cheap shield seemed better to get them all to at least 2+ vs shooting.

I imagined the four eagles would be able to easily handle any chaff that gets in the way. That coupled with magic (amber spear hopefully) should be able to clear out sabertusks/rat darts/etc.

A flank charge does pose an issue for combat resolution, but i can still use make way to put my netter armored nobles or prince there. I wont have as many attacks, but I will be forcing my opponent to attack WS 6-7,2+ rerollable, 4-5++. Still not the easiest of challenges, but far from a regular flank charge.
