Just curious why put a second set of devourers on a flyrant?

With two rolls on the Biomancy table, you've got good shot at getting some power that you want. Assuming you get Iron Arm or Endurance or something you'll surely cast one of those, making it so you can only shoot one gun. Why not leave the LW & BS on there so at least when you get into an assault you can bring the hurt?

It is so that you can fire at ground targets as well as threaten a flyer.

You don't really need a LW and Bonesword on a Flyrant to bring the hurt in Close Combat.

Sometimes you'd rather make those extra shots at flyers, or you don't need to cast powers that turn. With the rest of your Army Taking powers, like the Tervigon, you also have a pretty good chance to have them be able to cast the power on you.

Iron Arm and Endurance are both Blessings, not witchfire. Using them does not limit your shooting in any way.
Smite, Life Leech and Haemorrhage are the witchfires that you sacrifice gun worth of shooting for.

And why dual devourers? Because they're really good. If you land to CC and win the fight, your opponent can bring all his firepower on your tyrant, generally causing 3-4x as many hits as he would have done by shooting it while Gliding...

I can see that an extra 6 shots would be nice if needed, but it's 15 points that I might be able to put elsewhere for a situation I don't plan on running into all that often.

I mean, even if I roll crap on the biomancy table a S:4 AP:2 Assault 4 attack isn't bad at all. Or I have the chance of it being S:6. Granted, that isn't as good as 6 S: 6 attacks but you're paying 15 points for a one in 15 chance of not getting any good powers.

I know that I don't need anything extra for a Flyrant to be good in CC, but they're free and make him almost his own deathstar.

... You're telling me only witchfires take away from shooting?

If so, holy crap I've been playing that wrong. How long has it been that way? Hopefully only since 6th edition came out.

rainbow dashing to your side

why bother on rolling on yet another GW random table (TM) when you have the wonderful option of always having a flying monster that will dakka the face off anything that moves

not to mention if it gets into assault it can still chew through most squishy units. if you charge him into a unit that he cant kill then you're not using him right

Only Psychic Shooting Attacks, or other powers that said "Instead of firing a weapon" or the like, have limited shooting. At least since the beginning of 5th and I'm pretty sure 4th as well.

Haha, how about that.

Thanks, this is a nice change of pace for me because I'm the only one of my friends that plays with psykers.

Well that's silly. Psykers are one of 6th editions gems.

Very true, but when I was playing with all my friends it was still 5th edition. Getting used to a new flgs since moving but most people here still don't seem to really like psykers.
