I've decided my New Years resolution will be that I'm going to paint up at least 2000pt worth of Dark Eldar! The theme will be centered around a Coven heavy list with a sprinkle of Kabalite warriors helping out their brethren I've also decided to the best of my ability (barring work schedule) to finish a Squad+Transport a week so I do not get burned out on painting.

List is looking like:
x2 Haemonculus
x2 10man Wrack Squads in Raiders
x4 5man Kabalite Warrior Squads in Venoms
x3 Talos Pain Engines

Leaves me at around 1300pts, so deciding if I want to add Scourges or more Pain Engines to beef the army up. I would like to add Grotesques to the list but I'm just not a fan of the GW model (Like most folks) and I don't have enough confidence in my GS skills to convert them like The Eye of Error.

Anyway...

Now for this week so far I've finished 5 Wracks, Urien and their Raider!

Quite nice and gritty. If I may make a suggestion, I think a bit more contrast to the dark colors (something akin to the blue stones on the Wracks) on the Raider would really make it pop. I am also of the opinion that, since you've done a bronze color for the metals, perhaps a different color for the fabrics would be appropriate. I think having the cloth of the Wracks and Urien match the deep red on the sail/hull on the Raider would make them pop more. The cloth kind of washes out with the armor. A second option could be a neutral color like a dark gray or even black. Even a different shade of brown, really. Just my honest opinion. I'm going to keep an eye on this, though. Looks like it'll shape up into a nice, gritty DE army. Which is just what they should be.


Additionally, fantastic job on the flayed-skin-drapes on the front. It looks really authentic. Mind me asking how you painted it?

The cloth is just few layers of Cadian Fleshtone followed by a wash of Reikland Flesh, then highlighted back up with Cadian Fleshtone. The blood was painted with Tamiya brand clear red paint

Great minds think alike! I actually had that same idea for the Raider. Just that subtle change I think would bring up the contrast a lot. The idea for the Wracks is solid too. Can't wait to see them updated!

Figured out a list I want to play but I warn you... it is very spammy Simplified backstory is that a Haemonculus Coven hired Kabalite mercenaries to escort their "creations" to the battlefield, and that is where spamming T7 MCs comes into play I don't expect the list to do spectacularly well, and I would like to find a way to fit in Urien somewhere to Ride with the Grotesques

I tried the red drapes with the Wracks but it just didn't come out right, but the red dress for the Haemonculus came out pretty good (I hope).

So far 295pts done out of a 2000pts list!

Goal for this week will be a Talos Pain Engine and a squad of x5 Warriors+Venom.

Unfortunately the primer got caked on some portion of the "side blades" (I don't know what to call them). While everything dries I'm going to start building the warriors+venom now.

I like the colors used. Gives a warm, yet sinister theme to the models.

Why don't you paint something on the sails of the raider? Maybe get some cabal markings on it? You could also do thaton the raider itself. Either way, just my suggestion, it's your raider ofcourse.

I would really like to add freehand marks on the Raider, but I am deathly afraid of freehanding anything so I would need a lot of practice before I go through with it.

Here is the next batch for the goal of the week (Been slacking since I've been looking at apartments/being distracted by Resident Evil: Revelations).


Also, decided to modify the list to have x5 Wyches in Venoms instead of Warriors for the sake variety in the log/army and I also got my extra 2 Talos/Cronos Torso/Flight Stands in so I finally have my other 5 engines ready to be assembled. Exciting!!

Simple hand swap and mask swap definitely makes me a fan of this model... now to pose the next 3 differently!

I'm waiting on my order of Army Painted: Wasteland Tuft to come in at my LGS, so I'm stuck with a fairly bare bases for the Warriors so far... 680pts Finished because I modified the list to only have 5 Talos now I love Urien too much!


This weeks goal will be x4 Grotesques and another Talos Paine Engine (With some conversions hopefully!).

Due to bits order issue I had to put one of the Talos on hold :( But I converted/painted up another Haemonculus with the Grots!


Still waiting on tufts to come in at my LGS so missing some key parts on the bases
