That word has always been censored, because it is a racial slur towards people of African American heritage in our country. raccoon is not censored, but the shortened version is.
Also, it makes Chowder's cat impossible to post on Dakka since the cat's breed is the Maine raccoon (minus the rac).

It must be awkward for someone to have that last name. And never knew that O.o
Some people are so rude with nicknames for different shades of people. I don't understand why people would hate other people for having a different colored skin. So what? is my usual opinion.

No I have headaches while I talk, it is because I am talking. I can hear myself I seem loud to myself when in reality i am talking at a very low volume.
Its the medicine, not my ears. I've gone to two doctors all of them blame the medicine for it.

Well that's just weird.
Sounds like it really sucks.
Hope you manage to get rid of it somehow, because I don't know if I'd be able to cope with not talking.

I can still talk it just hurts too.
Its all about dealing with it. If it works I have to keep. I am kind of the guneia pig for it too. Me and 99 others experience the same problems. I am interested which one of those 100 commits a murder first because of the pain.
I don't feel anger at anything anymore because of my training in tai chi.
But Just imagine how many people out there that don't know how to cope with it. I wish our mental programs in the US were alot better than now. They used to be a bit better. My mom could attest to that she used to work in a mental clinic where they took care of mental patients and try and turn them into functioning members of society through creative ways. My mom loved it there, and she thought it worked well, no extremes just working with people to help them cope with daily life even with their disabilities. (She was a doctor there) But the US shut down the programs for some odd reason.

Anything they have to say on the subject of psychiatry and psychology should be completely disregarded.
The Wikipedia article pertaining to them is pretty much in accordance with a few books I've read about Scientology: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Citizens_Commission_on_Human_Rights
The name struck a cord with me even though I couldn't place it. Thanks for reminding me. Do you mind if I Copypasta this to the article?

I suspect that in like, 50 years, we're going to look back on current prescribing practices in psychiatry the way we look back on Thalidomide now.
You're not a fan of stumpy limbs?
The whole mental health thing is a way to move focus away from guns. No one in the NRA gives two gaks about mental health. A lot of uninformed people are calling for "mental health awareness", and much more scarier to lock up "crazies" in a asylum.
OK, listen. First off, I'm not really on the NRA's "team". I also agree that in our country that our constitution gives us the right to own firearms. However, I also favor a great many measures that would have the NRA pooping blood with rage. I'd see no problem, with say, requiring that you show some basic level of competence before being licensed to own a gun, just as we do with cars, with regular re-checks however often (yes, I know the difference between a right and a privilege, but we accept necessary restrictions on the first amendment so not sure why the second is so sacrosanct). I'd also completely ignore the scary front grips on AR-15s in favor of much tighter regulation on pistols.
So yeah, I get why the NRA is suddenly interested in mental health. But even a self-interested, dissembling clock is right twice a day: mental health in this country is rather poor and could stand much improvement. I don't how you made the leap from that to "locking up crazies in an asylum", which is both simplistic and not what I actually endorsed.
This can be an awesome country when we get our gak together, and I think we can do both things - better gun control, better mental health.
I guess I wasn't clear. In fact I agree with all of your views posted 100%. That quote wasn't really addressed to you in particular, I just used it as a lead in. The "locking up crazies" part had nothing to do with you, rather I think you'll find some of the more outlandish right-wing blogs are actually calling for a return to psychiatric care of the 1950's. Thats what scares the hell out of me. Protecting guns but pushing this vague "mental health reform". I'm all for increased mental health awareness, but it needs to be done correctly. I have fears of people starting to watch out for anyone that acts different as the precursor symptoms to spree shootings, withdrawn nature, lack of interest, anti-social attitudes, etc. and using that as a basis to get them hospitalized involuntarily.. Groundless fear maybe, but about as likely as needing an AR to stop tyrants.

Generally it is. Antidepressants aren't so much designed to make you feel better in the sense of "I'm perfectly normal now." as they are designed to mitigate the more extreme symptoms of MDD; hopefully allowing you to function and confront difficult personal issues.
As to the list: I'm shocked that people exhibiting mentally disturbed behavior were taking medication for psychiatric conditions.

I think its less a matter of prescription practices as general ignorance of what things like antidepressants actually do. Just like all forms of medication, they aren't magical. At best they make the absolute worst elements of any given condition more manageable, much like many painkillers.
Too often people go on medication and immediately assume that they'll get better, which is simply not the case. Psychiatric medication is intended to help you through therapy, or even personal reflection, nothing more.
