"Problem Exists Between Keyboard And Chair", it's a lazy excuse made by people who think that there is such a thing as perfect software.

Your very negative Melissia, not saying that's a bad thing. It's interesting to hear the opinion of someone who doesn't really like ps2 as much as me.

Hey, I'm not purely negative-- when a game is good, I express that. As I said earlier, I rather liked Space Marine, both its multiplayer and its single player and its exterminatus. I just wish it had had better netcode... it wouldn't have died out very fast if people had proper connections or, better yet, actual servers-- but alas, the fix came too late.

I played Planetside 2, i enjoyed it. Its a nice game, i had no extra issues then most FPS games had.
I don't consider having PC issues playing the game a reason to say a game is bad, unless its strickly server side. If your PC cant run it correctly.. Upgrade. or move on. I've ran it on max graphics, no issues.
And sorry, Space marine was a terrible game, it was amusing from the first level of Hey... im a space marine.. after that.. bleh.
Kinda felt like a Gears of War Ripoff.
It would be kinda amusing to have Planetside 2 have Different factions of say.. Imperial Guard / Chaos Guard / Orks

Regarding Space Marine, I wish more games would support dedicated servers and mod support.
I'm no game developer, and I'm pretty sure it takes a fairly decent chunk of time to do these things, the fact that by doing them you can expand the life of the game by a very large length of time should more than speak for itself to devs.

Bad game design includes game design that takes up unnecessary amounts of computer hardware to get sub-par results. If by terrible you mean fething awesome, then yeah. Amusingly enough, Gears of War felt like a half-assed 40k rip-off to me.

I totally agree with this, within about 3months of the game coming out you would be hard pressed to find a single game and when you did it would just lag so much it's unplayable.

Warhammerside would be amazing, imagine seeing 20 valkyries fly overhead while your platoon is charging over a hill seeing las fire and plasma shots hurdle towards you the stuff of dreams.
Seriously though anyone having doubts about planetside 2 or has not played it yet, stick with it, no other game is like this tbh and watch for jan 25th, seems like there's gonna be a massive fight on one server, most probably in the 1000s so I would watch that event and then decide if it sucks or not

warpgate, join an open squad/platoon, insert to squad leader, repeat if there's no fight
The "can't find a fight" thing was solved a while ago when inserting the squad leader bypasses the hot drop cooldown

Played PS1 since it's release for a few years, loved it. (at the time, wouldn't touch it with a ten foot stick now)
Tried PS2, bored to tears. Combat is completely sub par. The cert system is atrocious. Vehicle handling is crap.... I could go on but I'm boring myself.
And I'm gonna agree that space marine singleplayer was awesome. The MP modes at launch just completely killed it. So much wasted potential in that MP...

The best part of PS2 is the scale.
How many other games are centrally hosted, and handle hundreds of players at the same base?
It occasionally crashes the server when too many get involved, though
For 40k, use these 3 armies:
Orks,
IG with Space Marines,
Chaos cultists with Chaos Marines and Daemons
PS2 has resources requirements for MAX suits.
If that restricted how often you could pull a Space Marine, the IG side could get SMs occasionally.
Do the same for CSM or daemons for Chaos, and similar for Orks.
Each army already has jump troops, a range of vehicles and fliers.

Every MMO out there. Though it does at least reach a level of uniqueness amongst FPS games.

Yeah yeah
I thought that when I hit Submit.
I meant to state FPS. Most others stop at 32/64 per side, and only 2 sides?
The one big thing that PS2 would need to change is close combat.
Stomping down in front of someone and smashing them in the face should have a proper affect.

Try logging into an Asian server and going to Ogrimmar or something at roughly the time Chinese schools close.

WoW hardly counts. It was quite damned common to have hundreds of people visible at once in Atlas Plaza in City of Heroes, never mind the most popular giant monster fights which were complete clusterfucks. People advertised parties and contests ("who has the most interesting costume?" being quite common, as well as roleplaying)v all the time there, and it was a joy to participate in them. Same with Champions or DCU Online. Hell, even LotRO and DnDO had it at some point, even if they are less so now.

I'd say City of Heroes, but that sadly has been shut down. Outside of that... DnD Online had a decent roleplaying community for obvious reasons, as did Champions Online-- superhero MMOs seem to have it more often than fantasy ones, although DCU-O had almost none that I could tell.

orgrimmar got cleaned up before I quit wow though, late lich king/early cataclysm.
the superhero mmo's were pretty fun, I played champions on release, coming up with ridiculous and racist superheroes didn't really get old, constantly restarting did though
every once in a while I used to log onto NWN and my old server to bug people I used to play with, like 15 years ago >.> lol.

Acherons call (the first one) still apppears to be doing well for RP.
I've not tried it, but the AC players I know often go back there just for the RP.
