Subject: Blood Talons.... DCCW with LC special rules or normals LC for Dreadnoughts......

Annoyed Blood Angel Devastator

sooo as pretty much it stands i'm kinda in two minds about this topic....... on the one hand in the FAQ's and rulebook there no direct references to blood talons as not being dccw although in the codex it states that they follow the rules for lightening claws (does this include the new 6th edition AP3) or just the rerolls to wound.... in essence the blood talon is in fact a dccw in the sense: it's a weapon for close combat wielded by a dreadnought (just saying)......
so to sum up Blood Talons AP2 2xStr Lightening Claws or AP3 Lightening Claws for dreadnoughts......
opinions anyone??

It is directly said to use rules for lightning claws in the codex. Thus it is not a DCCW in any sense as it is not defined as one.
As It is not defined as a power fist, or a DCCW, it doesn't follow those rules.

Now, we like big books. (And we cannot lie. You other readers can’t deny, a book flops open with an itty-bitty font, and a map that’s in your face, you get—sorry! Sorry!) |

They are explicitly defined as Lightning Claws with an additional rule. They are not DCCW.

This is correct. you outlined it right here: l1ttlej wrote:although in the codex it states that they follow the rules for lightening claws... P.S. Lightning, not lightening, unless the claws have the capability of illuminating things somehow.

They definitely do not grant x2 Str
Lightning claw rules, not Dreadnough close combat weapon. And not combining the two.

Indeed, the rules entry for Blood Talons is quite clear that they are LCs with an additional rule.

A "Dreadnought close combat weapon" is a specific weapon, and does not encompass all close combat weapons that Dreadnoughts use. Just like a "power fist" is not a "power weapon", or a "heavy bolter" is not a "bolter".
