Um, didn't the free market long ago reject hand made artisan stuff for mass produced goods?

It was all the rage they called the industrial retribution or something.

The conservative christians who embrace Ayn Rand do so by ignoring whole swathes of Rand's writings. But given these are christians with a mad hate on for the poor, they're already well trained in selective reading.

“We may observe that the government in a civilized country is much more expensive than in a barbarous one; and when we say that one government is more expensive than another, it is the same as if we said that that one country is farther advanced in improvement than another. To say that the government is expensive and the people not oppressed is to say that the people are rich.”

Isn't that true for just about anything? "We have this book that validates our beliefs!" "Hold on doesn't this contradict a bunch of your other beliefs?" "Silence!"

I remember having a feminist friend snap at me for "objectifying" a woman (ie: I checked her out.). I then pointed out that she reads Twilight, a book series in which the female "protagonist" is basically just a plot device. She said it was different because Twilight is fictional. I said that her purchase supported a franchise, read by millions of women and girls, that is predicated on the idea that a woman, no matter how important to the story, is nothing without a man.

Then she hit me, I was satisfied.

Life does not cease to be funny when people die any more than it ceases to be serious when people laugh.

It's true for a lot of things. It's very true for Christian Objectivists.

And in general, the more true it is the more worthless the movement is, because the audience is basically accepting self-deception over asking themselves difficult questions. Nothing really meaningful comes from people who accept that.

Awesome! Same could be said if they're read 50 Shades of Grey too...
