Proving once again that thrift stores are awesome, I picked up this perfectly-scaled resin shop for $2 at the local Goodwill. It's part of the Liberty Falls Americana collection, code AH103 "Howard's Hardware".

Auhagen. Essentially this is designed for railways but with extra plasticard it can be assembled to allow placing troops on each of the three floors and the picture shows the kit as it is (its not painted). Off course the price cant compete with 2 bucks :( and assembly is a bit fiddly (you have to remove from sprue and glue all window frames), the price is around 15-20 GBP per kit, but given that You dont have to paint it, its HO/TT scale, it can compete with other products on the market.

Those I've been using are from this range - various Wohnhaus etc. They also produce pavement blocks and other stuff which can be used for making roads.

I would paint it myself anyway, but I've been buying Faller or Kibri HO/TT buildings, so this is very interesting to me. Thanks.

Since we are on the cheap building finds.i have been raiding the x mas village sets for my stuff here lately.I think the whole winter x mas thing fits in well with the Ardenness campaign quite well.

Kits by Faller, Vollmer, Kibri and other continental HO/OO makers are brilliant for FOW as they fit in with 15mm beautifully, and as they are continental they look right for NW Europe games as well. They can also be picked up on Ebay for bargain prices, I managed to get about 20 Faller buildings in a job lot for less than £30. British HO/OO kits are much larger and only really work with 20mm/1:72 miniatures.

Charity shops in the UK are as a great source for resin/ceramic decorative buildings, though these do tend to vary in size. Take a couple of lose figures with you if you are going on a charity shop hunt. Depending on the shop you can get them for anything from 50p to £5. Though either way it’s cheaper option than proper wargaming scenery.

yeah,I am a poor gamer,not really i just have a gaming budget.i would rather spend my money on models then the GAle force 9 stuff.Even though the new frozen Pond set is tempting.

I know what you mean. Most of my terrain is a homemade and most of my major outlays go on more figures!

To start out on a low budget on both money and time we used these "bastelbögen". Just print out - cut and assemble. Of course they look bad in comparison to non paper houses but they will do for your first few games. We preferred this approach over just using 28mm scale terrain.

the paper models are kinda kool. i think i am going to save thelink in to my favs.Then if any new players need some builings to get started with i will send them the link.

How do the HO scale Auhagen houses match up with Battlefront line of houses? I'd love to mix some in if they look good next to each other

I've got no experience with them. But I have used Kibri and Faller successfully, and all these models are "very much of a Muchness" to use that Welsh Idiom.

So I would not see any problem, unless it was a one of those ranges that is free and easy with the scale.

I think you might want to pick up a small model of theirs cheaply and if you are satisfied buy a larger amount.
