I run a 1500 pts CSM army and I was wondering at 1500 pts if running two Hell Drakes is over kill or not ? I really only use the Hell Drakes to kill infantry troops so that they have less to score with. With out getting to list involved I run with a Lord, 2 Mauler Fiends 2 CSM in rhino and a 5 man of terminators. I will always have 1 Hell Drake as well but I one more to much or should I take something else that would help out the army better?

Depends. If you think they're gunna pull something sneaky, then go for it. If you're trying to remain friends or you don't want to get in a fight then I'd hold back.

Go for it. I reccomend one with a Baleflamer and one with the Autocannon. With the FAQ change to make the Helldrake's gun mount a 360 view its much better.

Cato Sicarius, after force feeding Captain Ventris a copy of the Codex Astartes for having the audacity to play Deathwatch, chokes to death on his own D-baggery after finding Calgar assembling his new Eldar army.

I wouldn't call that overkill at all. I generally play DE and the dragons make pretty good pets....

No, in fact it's underkill. You have three Helldrake slots, so take three of them. Anything less is just being indecisive about what you want in your list.

There is no such thing as a hobby without politics. "Leave politics at the door" is itself a political statement, an endorsement of the status quo and an attempt to silence dissenting voices.

Two is fine. Personally I only run one, but only because I also have two units of five Chaos Spawn.

Now with the new FAQ the Heldrakes are utterly nutty, and for a power play list you'd take three.

I only bought one (had to prioritize marine and ork purchases) that I still haven't built (the latter two got that priority as well), and frankly with how cheesy they are now, I feel bad about even owning it

Never feel bad about how you build a list its your business not theirs. Now if having two heldrakes makes the game less enjoyable for you, remove them. Also as Grey Templar mentioned build one with the cannon it will be for taking on other flyers.

The ruling is not all that strange that a gun mounted on a long articulate neck would count as a turret. It is not even the first flyer to back a turret. So Don't really see it as nutty.

Two Helldrake list are not overpowered really.

It makes sense from a fluff point of view and all that, but sheesh, it's not like those things weren't powerful enough for their points cost already. Now they're significantly more powerful.

Besides, try playing an army with no skyfire against Heldrakes and see how non-overpowered they seem at that point, even before this

No , it's overkill for me to being 6 vendettas at 2k points. Go for it , keep in mind your flamer can't hit aircraft , don't rely fully on Vector strike
