hello again fine folks. As the topic line suggests, I've been here before. Unfortunately I lost interest in warhammer 40k after I moved from where I had a shop readily available to down into florida where I had no clue where one was. So I basically ignored warhammer for a while and went on with life. Currently obsessed with cars now and I recently remembered the old passion for 40k playing. And once I get a job and stop buying so many damn car parts I'll hopefully find some time and money to build up a decent army of...something.

A new rule book jumped in while my back was turned and it seems that alot has changed. Hopefully for the best. I'm looking for an army that is very very fast and able to move around a map quickly. Any suggestions? also no tau. Never been interested in them.

New killteam rules are out, so maybe you can play with that. A killteam would be fast to paint since you'll only have a few models to lug around and buy. Otherwise Grey Knights and Dark Angels Deathwing are the ones with the fewest model count in armies out there, but DA would have a Codex out soon so I'll hold off the purchase if I were you.

You may also want to look at other games. One skirmish game I've been playing recently is Infinity. Liking the fluff is entirely up to you, but the rules are free to download and nothing's stopping you from using 40k models and fluff and just Infinity rules.

Well as heartserenade posted Grey Knights & Dark Angels are your best options i would go with DA since they have a new codex out and some neat looking models! but thats my opinion.

If I may ask, why grey knights? also I apoligize i was not very thorough as I wrote that late at night and very tired. The kind of army I would like would be something that has similar stats to a Space Marine, be able to move quickly around the map, and shoot long range. Stuff like Jetbikes or other such bikes sound quite fun. Reading through the new necron codex (well new for me) I liked the transports that they have.

Also if anyone looks back far enough, they will see that I was a big fan of Dark Eldar. Before I left, I know that a new Codex was coming out. I do remember reading a little bit of it. That being said, there has been a new rulebook since I last played 40k, and quite alot of new codex's. I got a hold of the new CSM book and being that its been a while I can't find the meta game of it yet. Same with the new rules set.

I would like something that has the capacity to be an all-rounder, because I'm someone who prefers the ability to vary my army lists. The new CSM book looks quite interesting, And I always loved the bad guys as opposed to the "good guys".

Maybe that helps

Really appreciate the suggestions, I do forget that you guys here at dakkadakka are quite friendly as opposed to the car scene that i sometimes jump into. I have looked into other games before, but nothing holds the grandeur of 40k. For some reason when it comes to tabletop games the only thing I'd be interested in besides 40k is Dungeons and dragons. I guess I like my tabletop to be sci fi and my video games to be Sword and board.

Also to be honest, small games always bored me. I like the idea of being the commander with thousands of legions to command. Small games are interesting though and require proper thought.
Also I own a hatchback and I currently have no obligations besides my lovely car, so i have plenty of space for army's.

Oh. I misread your OP! I thought that you want an army you can move around quickly, like easy to carry and easy to pack. So silly of me.

Dark Eldar is still fast, and so is Eldar. An all-bike army with Codex: Space Marines is also good (and maybe dabble on the White Scars?). Blood Angels all have fast tanks, and you can field 6 of them. Dark Angels has a Ravenwing squadron, basically all speeders and bikes. And IG can filed Air Cavalry.
