I will be making myself one of those. I also do like GK but they can become expensive rly fast when you start to add more troops or dreadknights etc. since all of this stuff is $ expensive.
With all of those flyers around from necron flying circus to those helldrakes,I was thinking about allying with IG,mostly for 2x vendetta,veterans and maybe hydra if needed. I am not interested in big blob of guardsmen because I don't feel like painting 50 guardsmen added to bunch of marines I wanna have. Icarus defense doesn't seem to be enough if you face few flyers. And tbh you can't go wrong with vendetta 3x TL lasscanon and sponsons HB 140pts.
As far as DA or SW I would like to keep them infantry heavy!
From DA I like idea of standard of devastation + some tactical squads around it for strong fire base which should move forward. And basically from SW I like bunch of GH since they are one of the best troops!
In tournament environment, which I do plan to attend,which one do you feel would fare better? I am not looking for a most cheesy army because I would then play one of the 'top tier' IG/GH/Necron/deamons ,but I want to be able to compete with them, and with a bit of luck beat them!

If you're taking IG mostly for AA and don't want to make more infantry why not just get Contemptor Mortis dreads for your DA? Then you can take a pure Deathwing/Ravenwing army without having to settle for allies you don't really seem to like that much.

I dont think gk will be anymore expensive $$ wise compared to others, you can make a 2k army with 18 models, whats cheaper than that haha.

You say space wolves are the best troop but I give you the humble strike squad, 250 points gives you 10 strikes, with 8 strength 7 rending psycannon shots and 16 strength 5 stormbolter shots at 24 inch a turn, not to shabby. They also have warp quake which gives deep strikers within 12 an auto mishap, great against daemons and drop pod lists. Finally they all have force swords (ap3), and one armed with a daemon hammer (ap2), great for finishing off any meq in cc after whittling them down with shooting. With also the chance to instant death things like tyranid mc's after just one wound!!

Guard allies would work well with them to.

But, really, go with the models you like the most

I am not fan of those low count army's. Yes,I could make DW rly cheap with those dark vengeance terminators,but I am not fan of low count army + what happens when you face horde?! Or if you face bunch of plasmas+plasma canons?

well,if you are getting things 2nd hand,they are. I just got 18 marines,with shipping I payed only 13$ for them! Hurray for ebay Most of GK stuff I looked even 2nd hand,isn't that cheap,for 10 man squad you pay around 30$. Dreadknighs are around 25$(or more)+shipping 2nd hand.

Contemptor Mortis dreads

didn't know about them till now,saw the model,but actually didn't know the rules. Seems nice But,isn't vendetta more effective and survivable? ANd I would also like to make 1/48 m24 Hind conversion into vendetta,I just love that helicopter!

Contemptors Mortis dreads have interceptor and therefore get to shoot down a flyer before it can do anything, but the main difference is that they're available without taking allies. If you don't like the rest of what IG offer you might as well take your own army's AA options and skip the Vendettas. Whatever your preference about Contemptor vs. Vendetta in isolation the dreads will get the job done well enough that you won't feel bad about taking them.

Of course if your goal is to use a specific Vendetta model then feel free to take them, they're still a powerful choice. You'll just have to accept that you'll need to make IG infantry as well.

The DA codex is a shiny new book with synergies between several units. I'd go with DA as the codex is up to date.
You can build an infantry force with Tactical Marines as core and add some elements that can quickly reach the enemy front ranks (DW Termies in concert with RW Bikers). The only issue is air defense. But as said, an IG ally detachment with several Vendettas can counter this.

I played my first game with the new DAs yesterday and I took 3x5 men tactical squad around a terminator command squad with the standard of devastation. The tacticals fired like 30 space marines while my enemy advanced on me. This is a great force multiplier. But I assume that from now on, my enemies will do their best to precising strike (drop pod near the) command squad so this trick might not be possible for a long tiime.

Obviously, if you want to maximize your usage of the standard, you shouldn't move too often. I also used a Deathwing squad with Belial for precising deep strike.

From what I saw,some ideas are to put standard inside LR,add tech marine in for extra durability of LR with that save thing. Although,that is almost 500pts,not sure if it's worth it? Although it gives you 24 bolter shots from LR and nice protection.
My main concern is how durable will standard be,since enemy will do everything to get rid of it ASAP.

Visited my club yesterday. Saw a bit of games.
I like ability to play drop pod SW, which can be great vs someone who boxes in like IG in some mission,dunno how would DA fare vs this kind of army?
SW codex is good one also,but when they get new one, which they will,it will probably be even better,hmmm.
