I have to disagree here. Not the don't apologise part - it's your hobby, use the models you want. But definitely clear anything non-standard with your opponent. It's never nice setting up your army, then as your opponent starts setting up, seeing something confusing. As said, most people won't have an issue with it. But don't leave it until both armies are set up, or worse, the game in play, before someone notices something they don't agree with. It just potentially wastes both players time and leaves both players with a bad experience.
Don't try to pass it off with a reason though. Just be upfront about it. "These are Mantic models, I'm using them as my Tomb Guard.' You'll find people are a lot more accepting if you're just up front about it.
