Hey guys, I was wondering what came under the category of "Close Combat Weapon"? Specifically within the Black Templar Codex.

The image in the rules section of a Sword Brethren holding a Chain Sword, but no wargear options mentioning a Chain Sword, lead me to the conclusion that they must be covered under Close Combat Weapons.

I'm wondering if this extends beyond Sword Brethren to the rest of the Black Templar Codex (Obviously not other's as Chain Swords are listed as optional wargear).
For example could Neophytes wield Chain Swords as their Close Combat Weapon?

Cheers

Chain swords are indeed close combat weapons with no special rules as far as i'm aware. I have a templar army myself, and all of my Initiates have bolt pistols and chain swords. All the chain sword/pistol combo does is add an attack to their profile for 2 ccw's, no other rules or AP or anything else is applied.

Chain sword = normal ccw
Chain axe = AP 4
Chain fist = Double strength armour bane AP2 unwieldy
Chain mail = 6+ armor save
Chain stun = gg

Standard armament of Khorne Berzerkers (well it would be if they were good)

However, firing ordinance at someone isn't nearly as threatening as firing ordnance at someone.
Ordinance is a local law, or bill, or other form of legislation.
Ordnance is high caliber explosives.
No 'I' in ordnance.
Don't drown the enemy in legislation, drown them in explosives.

They're a thing?

That's unfortunate, I guess.

Is that you asking whether they exist? Or asking about the AP4 feature?

Chainaxes used to be all over Khorne stuff. Kharn must still have one surely? (Ive been out of the 40k game until a few months ago). As for the AP4, I dont know if thats right. As far as I know they are just a normal CC weapon.

lol - not quite derailed - you got your answer first. Then it continued...

And off topic - chain axes are ap4 - it's in the 'new' chaos codex

Intriguing.

Also, sorry OP, didnt mean to hi-jack your thread. And yeah, Chainswords are a normal CCW, so your Neophytes can have them. At least you got an answer before I did it!
