Just read the newest necron faq and they've cleared up what happens to passengers on a nightscythe when it's destroyed.

Seems they don't take the str10 hit when the flier crashes after all, I personally had no issue with them taking the hit but seems devs really hate it when Necrons die.

This just made the already annoying flying circus even worse.

Yes, we covered that in the rules-section.
It was also in the Necron Digital Codex some time ago!

Most of the players I've heard from and spoken too, Necron and non-Necron alike, agree with the FAQ and played where they did not take the hit even prior to it. While technically a buff if you were playing the other way, its hardly the most concerning thing in the FAQ.

Given that, fluff-wise, the Scythe doesn't carry any actual warriors aboard and instead opens a portal to a remote location, wouldn't it be more adequate if its passengers counted as automatically killed on impact?

War does not determine who is right - only who is left.

No? Fluff wise- if the portal is destroyed then they can teleport in another way.

(Fluff wise, the portal should be able to carry any unit through of any size but hey.... OP)

I didnt even know this was an issue, i just had this arise with my necron friend but the debate we had was regular reserves or ongoing reserves. His codex just said "Reserves" so i made him roll next turn to bring them in, i didnt even question the auto-save from the crash n burn crap.

An ork with an idea tends to end with a bang.
