Subject: QUESTION: Monolith fire arcs

Nervous Hellblaster Crewman

Greetings,
I'm slowly building my necron army (only one 6th edition game so far) and something that came up was the fireing arc of the necron main weapon (the whip). Is this a turrent mounted weapon or does it have a 90 degree fire arc from the front?
I know that the other four guns have 45 degrees as they are on the side of the model, but the top weapon (big crystal) is on the top just like a turret. Any way of confirming the top weapon is a turret?
Thanks,
Ambrose

The weapon on top should be a turret, though the decorations around it may block some line of sight.

the Flux Arcs are slightly more than 90 degrees each, and ive always measured the Whip from any of those guns.

As above. its a turret, but the struts may block LoS.
The flux arcs on the 4 corners have an arc equal to however far they can actually turn. Which from memory is aound 90 degrees.

I've always played it as a turret and so far no ones ever complained about it.

Could've sworn at one point the FAQ said that you measure range/LOS from the Gauss Flayers. I'll be darned if I can find where.

Greebo had spent an irritating two minutes in that box. Technically, a cat locked in a box may be alive or it may be dead. You never know until you look. In fact, the mere act of opening the box will determine the state of the cat, although in this case there were three determinate states the cat could be in: these being Alive, Dead, and Bloody Furious.

That was in the Previous edition's FAQ.

Thank you for the imput. Are there any FAQ, erratas etc that back up the turret idea? My only opponent so far states that unless it has a turret (like a tank) it has a forward arc.

Well tell him to find the crystal's defining "front" for its arc it is the same on all sides of the crystal there is no barrel or anything to determine its frotn arc so have him prove to you that it can't fire backwards or sideways Automatically Appended Next Post: Or you could just rotate the crystal to troll him and show that it's turret mounted you just glued in the rotating part

No, there's really not. Though since it comes from the crystal you would consider that entire mechanism as "the barrel". So it's not actually turret mounted it just has a 360 degree LOS.

Just tell the opponent that decides to pester you about it to show you the front arc then rotate the crystal's "front arc" to face a different direction

Well the crystel is surrounded on three sides by struts and open on the fourth. It could be construed that that side is the "barrel"
