I was playing a game yesterday and we were trying to figure out what happened to a warjack who gets knocked down with no Cortex.

Two things are on there.
- The first is that to stand up a model needs to forfeit their movement or combat actions
- However a Warjack needs to have a focus point to stand.

Does this mean no cortex no standing or is the focus point spent to completely shake the effects and bot movement and combat can be done.?

I was leaning to the the latter?

Anyone else encountered this?

Even if a Jack does have cortex it doesn't have to have focus allocated for it to stand up. If a jack does have a cortex and is allocated focus then during the control phase it spends a focus and stands up. Because it has not activated yet it does not need to forfiet an action.
In your example a jack acts like any other model. When it is activated it stands up and the owning player decides whether the jack will forfiet its move action or attack action.

A warjack can still forfit either its movement or action to stand up just like any other model.

What forcing the warjack does is allow it to keep both its movement and action after standing up.

The same with a warbeast.

So a warjack that gets knocked down, but still has a Cortex, could be allocated 2 Focus, be forced to stand, and then declare a charge. Or it could be forced to stand, make a full advance, and make any attacks it has avaliable.

Or it could be forced up and then spend a Focus to run.

So if a warjack is knocked down, by say a Headbutt from an enemy Jack, it could be allocated some focus, forfit its movement to stand, and then whack the offending enemy jack in melee.

So basically warjacks can stand regardless however they have to spend the focus if they have it?

No, they don't have to spend the focus. They can just forfiet one of their actions and use the focus normally. So, if I put 3 focus on my jack, who is currently knocked down, I can forfiet my move action and spend all my focus on my attack action (buying and/or boosting my attacks).

Nope.

if they're knocked down, warjacks can do 1 of 2 things.

if given focus, they can spend that focus during the control phase to "shake" the knockdown effect. then they can be activated as normal.
Like every other model in the game, they can also forfeit either their movement, or action during their activation in order to stand up. obviously, this doesnt cost focus, but it severely curtails their effectiveness for a turn!

Basically, option 1 is there to give jacks an edge in the game, where, unlike infantry who are stuck when made stationary, or MUST give up their movement/action to get up, jacks have a back up plan that lets them fight at full effectiveness. its one of the additions to jacks for Mk2 to kae them better than they were in mk1.
