Hello everyone. Today I present you my favourite miniature..... The Balrog of Moria I hope to enjoy. Dimensions : W=22,1 cm H=16,8cm D=25,2cm Pieces in the box : 8 (1 body,1 head,2 hands,1 mane,2 wings,1 tail) Material : Metallic with plastic wings Prepare time : 20 hours (at least) Paint time : 80 hours (at least) Difficulty level : Ultimate (10/10) Beauty result : Perfect (10/10) Paintjob : Painted only with brush (all stats are personal) That is all folks! This miniature was the biggest figure I've ever painted. I really can't remember how many hours did I spend to paint him. Of course if I would had painted him with an airbrush the paint result would be better and the time I needed would be half. Maybe next time!!! Because I took almost 50 photos of Balrog I couldn't post them all If you want to see all his photos and read his history visit http://greekminiatures.blogspot.gr/2013/01/the-balrog-of-moria.html Also you can see tutorial on how you can paint the Balrog Thank you all

Very nice
Best looking Balrog model I've seen.
Not to sound rude though, but where did you get the ten out of ten result for your model, or is it your personal opinion? I'd personally agree with the ten out of ten but you know

No problem my friend.
No no all the stats are personal. I found it as a way to show you how difficult and how I like it.

I often wonder why 40K Chaos/Daemon players don't use this model as their Demon Prince. It matches size and would add a different look to the standard DP model.
Plus its GW so no one can whine about it.

I love it! I cannot believe that that's all done with a brush...

I'm very surprised this model doesn't surface more often on this forum, It's definitely one of the most visually striking (especially when painted this well).
Love the effect on the whip, the blending is almost perfect!
The only bit that's not quite perfect is the eyes, however i kinda like that, it shoes it was done by a person instead of a machine!!
Spectacular work, hope he'll get to do some mashing one day!

Very good indeed!
The only criticism I could give is the eyes. The fire effect doesn't come across very well, it just seems like a red dot in a pool of yellow, with little shading like the rest of the model.
It probably is less noticeable when on the table, or even display, but it really shows in that straight on pic.

I don't know much about 40k but I always wonder why they don't use this kind of miniatures!
That is the reason it took me over ..... 80 hours painting!!

You are right. The eyes are not very nice because I have problem with the eye-paint technique. I hope I can improve them.

Maybe now that I have the airbrush I may can fix this.

When you paint fire you must choose how the colour will chance one to another. All the Balrogs I've seen in the in internet (even in Games Workshop site) in the inner body and the inner mane were painted red and as it goes outside it went yellow.
This is not (for me) the right way because the fire at the hottest point it becomes white-yellow not deep red.
