I was curios about wither or not if they were available. I remember seeing them on forgeworld but,I went looking and couldn't find any. So, with this I was wondering if they were going to be getting legit plastic releases. Its been done when they made the plastic version of the Baneblade. Has anyone heard anything about this or know if they just pulled them or what?

They don't exist in the regular codex :(

Fang, son of Great Fang, the traitor we seek, The laws of the brethren say this: That only the king sees the crown of the gods, And he, the usurper, must die.

They're called Dreadclaws, and there are a few differences between them and ordinary Drop Pods. Forgeworld indeed did used to sell them, but as far as I've heard they pulled the moulds due to them wearing out. The implication is that Forgeworld is redoing the moulds, not that there'll be a plastic release.

But the new rules in Imperial Armour: Aeronautica are rubbish anyway as far as Drop Pods go. Their only real benefit is that they're the only Drop Pods Chaos can get, which is rather faint praise. Better to save your money, because they aren't cheap.

Alongside the fact they are assault transports as well, meaning you can assault directly after landing. Meaning they are literally the only drop pod, and assault vehicle.

Dreadnoughts get assault pods too.

Still can't assault after deep-striking though.

For thirteen years I had a dog with fur the darkest black. For thirteen years he was my friend, oh how I want him back.

There was (is?) the type of FW Dread drop pod that in fact does allow charging in the same turn that you deep strike, it's a special rule. Not sure if it was the "Dreadnought drop pod" or something else, though.

That is indeed the Lucius Pattern Drop Pod, which has a special rule overriding the "no charge from deep strike".

AW is correct. The Dreadclaw's assault rule does not get around the "no assaulting after coming in from reserves" rule.

The Lucius Pattern Drop Pod's rules give it specific permission to do so, but it's for loyalist dreadnoughts only, except Blood Angels, because we hate you.

Luckily, it doesn't need it. Unlike the SM Drop Pod, the Dreadclaw is a Flyer with Hover Mode, so it can arrive in Zooming mode, enjoy the benefits of being an AV12 Flyer, then go down to Hover Mode next turn and unload its cargo. And unlike the normal DP, the deployed squad may re-embark and move to another target.

The Dreadclaw is an awesome vehicle, its only problem is that it is a Fast Attack choice ...

0.o When was the Dreadclaw removed from the Forgeworld site? I remember it being something like £70 only a month ago...

*Yup, it only costs a few dozen points, and is three or four times the price of the GW. Good old Forgeworld. =)

Oh, and oddly I would note that the Codex itself shows Chaos Space Marines using Astartes drop pods in at least one piece of art. Perhaps the range wasn't expanded upon to have a few Codex Astartes units because GW didn't want to put the money into a less popular army?

The Dreadclaws have been off the FW site for at least 3 months. Making new molds is the current rumor. They were ~70 British moneys at the time.

On what page does the Chaos Space Marine Codex show Chaos Space Marines using a drop pod? I'd really like to see that.

Pg 8, though I had thought that there was more. Pg 14 has them with Thunderhawks...

Also, what's with all the pictures of Heldrakes in the background of the art? They even added one into the old Defiler art on pg53.

I think that Chaos aught to have had Drop pods, but again, I think it was due to GW not wanting to put the effort in (or knick the Dreadclaw). At least we can still use the Dreadclaw rules right? What ever happened to the Land Raider variant? Imperial marines have a fair few chucking about...

I was disappointed that the Dreadclaw was not in the codex and that we didn't get a plastic kit. They would have sold tons!

Ah, well. I'll eventually get a couple of the DC's for my growing Chaos army.

On moon miranda.

The CSM book was disappointing in many ways like that, unlike all the snowflake chapters that are getting reboots, CSM's got a couple dinobots and otherwise just had some options/points jiggered around

IRON WITHIN, IRON WITHOUT.

New Heavy Gear Log! Also...Grey Knights!
The correct pronunciation is Imperial Guard and Stormtroopers, "Astra Militarum" and "Tempestus Scions" are something you'll find at Hogwarts.

I think the artwork on Page 8 is supposed to be the dropsite massacre?

I could be wrong of course.

I actually really like the current Dex, I'm having a lot more fun with it than I first thought. Shame about the dinobots though!
