Hello everybody,

Iám working on my first Chaos army. I still have to paint a lot of models but they are all assembled and most are in the detail stage of painting. I will update this topic with new pictures as i make progress at the moment iám finishing 3 bikers, 40 zombies/cultists with warhammer fantasy champion as a leader and 4x Spawn nurgle style.

These pictures are the models i feel are finished and ready for tabletop battles. The Daemon Prince is still a work in progress but i just wanted to share my paint scheme.

All feedback is welcome and i hope you like them.

My whole army

Obliterators I went with a purleish theme for my army so you will see many models with some purple accents.

The red is a bit patchy - use a darker red as basecoat then do the lighter red on top - it will cover better. Another tip is to take a high res picture of each model and then use it to easily spot all the bits where paint has gone onto a different colour by accident - the camera never lies!

More wash on the nurgle! More rot! More pestillence! MORE FOR THE GRANDFATHER!

Good work

Your work is nice, simple and effective. For the most part its clean and I would imagine anyway that your simply going for a tabletop standard....in which case you have exceeded expectations. My only suggestion would be to add some more detail to your bases. Including something as easy as static grass (green or dead) would really elevate your army's presentation on the battlefield.

4250 points of Blood Angels goodness, sweet and silky W12-L6-D4
1000 points of Teil-Shan (my own scheme) Eldar Craftworld in progress
800 points of unassembled Urban themed Imperial Guard
650 points of my do-it-yourself Tempest Guard
675 points of Commoraghs finest!

The Dude - "Jackie Treehorn treats objects like women, man."

Lord Helmet - "I bet she gives great helmet."

Thank you all for the tips and comments

The thing is about the red i wanted to go for a dirty look kinda of bloody armour on the Berserkers so that's why it looks this way.

And i will add more details to the bases once i finished the paint job on the rest of the army. It will be my second mission

Yo uare right about the camera never lies. When i looked at the pictures I took i was shocked to see so many small mistakes. But i think i have to be statisfied with my own level of paint skill or i will drive my self crazy and never finish a single model.

More pictures comming soon and thanks again for the feedback

Another thing to use is your eyes. They still work well in this technologically inclined age. Christ.
However I also picked up on the patchiness of the paint. Many thin layers will work to help counter this, as will using a good solid base colour that is designed to be a base- it looks like you are using citadel colour straight over black spray. Another tip is to never brush over an area you have already been over- it wicks away wet paint and give that patchiness- I struggled for months with the khorne berserkers reds Because of this, and to have you layers going at different directions so they are cross hatched

So true. That was my biggest battle learning to paint. I expected heavy metal and got my own skill level. Its disappointing sometimes, but thats a good philosophy, just stick at it and you will get better. Also check out brushthralls, they have plenty of good tutorials.Lastly, where did you get that power axe for the zerker

Not sure about the bases yet. I was thinkign something with rocks and lava or a more Nurgle approach with ooze and molten corpses.(Both sound so appealing to have under your feet )

I'd definitely say that heavier washes on the Nurgle marines would be beneficial to the overall look of your army.
