So when writing up a new list I came across a dilemma. I need a bodyguard for my lord and 10 cultists should do the job. I intended to give them a mark of tzeentch for a nice little save, also giving my lord a 3++ in the process, but the mark of nurgle also looks pretty good.
I'll be throwing the black mace and a few other goodies on the lord, nothing god specific though, and would be just as happy with any other mark on the lord, so what do you all think?
What's the best way to build my cultist as a "meat wall"?
Would it be better to hide the lord in back or have him tank wounds from the front?
P.s. I only have 10 cultists at the moment so "blob squad" advice is out for the moment, even if it is good advice.

Not sure what you're asking for the first question.
My general opinion is to keep the lord out front and just LOS anything you don't want him to take. It gives you options.

10 Ld7 cultists wont really last very long no matter how you equip them, if you want ablative wounds you'd be better off with 5 basic marines at a few points more.

Nurgle works better on cultists, upping their toughness to a respectable level instead of just making their rather gak save invulnerable. Also a nurgle lord with black mace can be great against hordes. Have you considered putting him on a bike with a spawn screen though? That's generally better IMO

Sadly due to my model range cultists, 6 chosen and 10 chaos space marines are my only choices for him to join a squad, and one of those squads will have Mr blackheart leading them. As Hurion will be my warlord I'd rather he ran with marines.
The bike is something I already considered but using a sorcerer with 3 biomancy powers and the black mace, but again, my model range is much smaller than I would like and I have a few games planned for soon.
Thanks for all the input aswell guys. T4 cultists and a nurgle lord sounds like a better bullet catcher than the tzeentch option.
I could run the lord with possessed but I feel like he just won't be worth it with them.

If you want him with cultists, go with more cultists rather than just ten. That way, at least when you do get into battle, there will still be some cultists left. A big blog of 30 to 35 cultists with a chaos lord can actually be quite scary in cc.
Just keep the cultists as basic cultists. Don't bother with any upgrades at all. So they are easy to kill, but if you have 30, then it really doesn't matter!

numbers is the only way to effectivly have them knocked out in one phase of shooting. If you want to protect them then lord in termi can go out front but thats not the plan from the way it sounds. as for your questions I'd go with MoN but on cultists marks are almost a waste.

I've been thinking of doing that with Abbadon. Just giving him 30 four point ablative wounds he can use when slugging across the board. When he joins the unit, they become fearless so who cares how many times they get shot. If even one gets away to sit on an objective they can score, and they also can get linebreaker.
