How do people feel about the use of Horus heresy units (or any forge world units for that matter) in standard games of 40k? I ask because I have a khorne army and recently received an Angron model and I would love to use him

Horus Heresy, when play tested by FW, does very well against small elite forces, as they can take greater numbers of space marines than usual, e.g. squads of 20 are cheaper than 2 10 man squads.
Against mobile armies, DE or Eldar, they tend to get ripped apart, as they lack the mobility of codex marines
As far as generally mixing FW and 40K? Go for it. More and more tournaments are waking up to this and including FW units, which is definitely a good thing.

I'll admit I dislike FW mixed with standard 40k, mostly because some armies get so many options and quite a few get next to nothing. If they brought out more units for other armies(besides forces of the Imperium) I would have less of a problem, but until then I know my group's stance is ask your opponent before adding it to a list.

Depends. Are you going to allow your opponent super heavies if you take Angron?

I still don't reccomend it. The Legion list has cheaper point costs compared to normal 40k costs. Which would put any 40k codices that faced them with a severe disadvantage.

I would allow it if they just used the points for the Primarchs/any HH-Only stuff from the HH books. Other than that, if its in C:SM/CSM, use that points value

First thing first, I am strong FW advocate.
That being said I would not let someone field Angron in a regular 40K game.
If the guy wants to field his HH legion, I have no problem but Angron himself uses a special FoC slot which contains super-heavies. There is no such FoC slot in 40K.
In a regular game? No Lords of War but the rest is ok.
In an Apoc game? Balls to the wall, bring it on!

Good luck with Angron in a normal game. In order to take him, you have to play at least 2k+ points to unlock his Force Org.
Our local tournament series is starting to allow HH lists into the mix starting the next event. All other FW lists are already allowed. I am truly looking forward to being able to play my Death Guard Legion in a competitive setting.

I'd allow the Primarch, but only if I also get the Super Heavy/Primarch slot too.

Angron==super heavy.
as far as the lists them selves setting aside the primarch, I've played and beaten them without much issue. Seems about fair just so many rules you know nothing about to keep track of but it's not too bad. It's kinda like playing vs space wolves, mixed with DA
