Doctrines for this and that... trying to mix fun/fluff with gameplay. Let me know what you think.

Company Command Squad:

Snivelling Coward: 20pts

"Colonel O'Neil had a habit of surviving last stands to the man. He was that man, usually in a hedge"

As long as the Company Command Squad did not shoot in the preceding shooting phase (note that issueing orders does not count as shooting), the CCS has the Shrouded special rule.

Gung Ho!: 10pts

"Charge!"

The Company Command Squad has the Rage special rule.

Platoons:

Conscript Platoon: 20pts

"High command said we could never had more men than the enemy had bullets. High command were quitters!"

This platoon may not take Platoon Infantry Squads, but may take up to 4 units of Conscripts. If this doctrine is chosen, Send In The Next Wave may not be purchased for this army.

Fire Drills: 20pts

"Ritualised sodomy has an amazing affect on the men's morale..."

All units in this platoon automatically pass the order "First Rank Fire! Second Rank Fire!". No leadership roll is required. Note that the normal limitations of the order apply - it must still be issued, the officer must still be in range etc.

Scouts: 30pts

"My father? I never met him sir, though my mother says he was a lithe, relaxed man with a beard..."

All units in this platoon have the Stealth and Move Through Cover special rules.

Veterans:

Dig in!: 30pts

Diggin' all day, diggin' all night, to keep my foxhole out of sight..."

This squad has the Shrouded special move provided it did not move or run in the preceding turn.

Torrent of fire: 50 pts

"Pew pew...pew!"

This squad's lasguns count as Heavy 5.

The Heavies:

Armoured Fist: 40pts (Tank only)

"Get me closer! I want to hit them with my sword."

The turret weapon of this tank is twin-linked when firing at targets closer than 18".

Creeping Barrage: 30pts (Artillery only)

"The Nikkrean Artillery Corps' field manual was renowned for its miss-translations, most notably translating 'it is generally considered unwise to shell one's on side' as 'it is generally considered a sign of weakness not to shell one's own side"

The mean weapons of this squadron count as twin-linked as long as the target point is within 12" of a friendly unit.

Thoughts/feedback?

Hmm....I actually like this.....the conscript platoon is a cool idea, I actually might try that sometime (500 men in 2 platoons? Yes, yes please)

Overall they're good, and its nice to see the humor. Heavy 5 for lasguns though? Perhaps 3 or 4. Not that its too overpowered, just that it would be perceived as such.

I'm not certain, but if I recall correctly Veterans are costed at about 60 points for a squad. With 50 points for the Doctrine (which I believe is purchased on a per-unit basis) you are pretty much increasing their firepower by a factor of 2.5 while giving them a minor drawback. When you consider that you get this bonus in firepower with no bonus in durability on a fragile unit, I think it is fairly costed.

Lasguns? Being called overpowered? I would pay to see the day.

But if you think about it, you are making a 70 point squad 120 points for it and you haven't even added the special weapons (which, is a must take for vets). I think the costing would keep it balanced.

Vendetta:

"Overpowered? We'll show you overpowered!"

Extra Broken: -100 points (yes, negative points)

The Vendetta gains the Strafing Run, Tank Hunters, and Shrouded USRs.

Vulture:

"But we're still cooler."

Extreme Punishment: 50 points

Replace the punisher cannon profile with the following.

Marine Punishment* STR 10 AP 1 Heavy 20 10" blast, ignores cover.
Vendetta Punishment* STR 10 AP 1 Heavy 20, Skyfire, Interceptor**

*This weapon has two modes. Choose one or more each time you fire.
**The Vulture does not understand silly things like "enough shooting". If you fire the punisher cannons using the Interceptor rule you may still fire normally during your turn.

There is no such thing as a hobby without politics. "Leave politics at the door" is itself a political statement, an endorsement of the status quo and an attempt to silence dissenting voices.

Hardened Resolve - 10 points:
May be taken by any infantry unit
"Keep going, I never really liked Bob that much anyways"
This squad always counts as having suffered one less casualty then it has this turn for the purposes of moral and combat resolution.

Did you forget the Twin-Linked?

also, the rule about "enough shooting" is hilarious. Name it something, like, "Stop shooting? I just held the trigger down through the turn swap!"
