Got the rule book PDF this week- looks fairly easy to get to grips with. The scenery will be fun I think. I like that the Plague have their share of naff mutations so they're not too overpowered.

Just flipped through the rulebook so far, I like the parts I saw though. Some of the things that were more limited in the beta are a bit more fleshed out now and should make for interesting game play for sure

Looks solid. Looks to be about the same quality as the Sedition Wars minis, which works for me.

Reading through the rulebook - very impressed. Good writing style, engaging setting, intuitive layout, great pics - mostly physical minis, but also some rendered art which breaks it up nicely. The dreadball rulebook I have was fine, though I found it a little simplistic in layout and with an overly large font and too much spacing. Deadzone doesn't seem to suffer the same problem.

Was wondering how well it would work to combine Deadzone terrain with the cardstock battle system terrain on KS atm to make a glorious 6x4 board. Use Deadzone terrain for the outside complex, leading into the inside of a large building done with battle system terrain.

@Yonan, I'm only in for a pound on battle systems right now, but I would *love* to move things around to get a couple of strong holds for an interior to go with deadzone and possibly Infinity (which is likely to be my go-to step-up if I want something more complicated/ in-depth for a change).

I'm sure I can come up with one stronghold w/o compromising mars attacks... but I would love to pick up two. The pieces just play together so well!

You know how deadzone buildings were cargo containers right? Habtainers or whatever? Assemble a few largish buildings but mostly/totally enclosed (if there're openings, they're there for cargo inspection, etc) and put them in the center of your board, and then surround them with Battle Systems. Boom, cargo hauling space ship missions are a go

That, and a big space ship interior to go along with my landing zone space port board section.

The combinations possible are glorious

I was planning to combine the two as well. It's a storm of synchronicity this month!

For the first time since the kickstarter has ended, I haven't regretted my choice to not get the antenocitis detailing bundles. The BS stuff works out to be cheaper by far, and I WON'T HAVE TO PAINT ANY OF IT!!! And it still looks pretty top notch too

Mind blown, the outside becomes the inside! The hangar bays would be a perfect place to put them. They were looking at double height hangar doors too iirc.

That, and a big space ship interior to go along with my landing zone space port board section.

I was planning on using the deadzone terrain to do this too initially, but the battle systems stuff should do it much better.

I picked it up, it was relatively more expensive but I don't mind since it should just add more variety which is always nice. If I had to choose between them and this battle system stuff though, I'd say the battle system stuff would win out handily.

Good, if expensive, time to be a gamer ; )

I have entertained the notion of building a 28mm spaceship out of battlezones, big enough to have a 2'x2' fighting area inside once you take the top hull off, so you can game inside the model itself.

The crazy thing is, it wouldn't even be all that expensive to make. 2 battlezones would be enough to give you the base for the 2x2 area (64 tiles), another 2 battlezones for the top and from there it's a matter of building up the sides, exterior and internals of the ship, probably using another 4-6 battlezones in the process.

I was going to make a scale version of the FTL Kestrel cruiser and fill out the inside with battlezones, but I think putting down a battle systems starship interior would make me just as happy and be way easier, leaving my battlezones for other stuff.

If BS ever gets around to making fantasy stuff... I may have to get back into that. Who knows, maybe they'll have something to do with DKH 4

Still think it'd be an amazing idea... have this gigantic awesome 28mm starship model and then lift off the top hull and show off the fact that it's also a gaming table on the inside.

Are there any scale model starship kits that are that gigantic and could house a 2x2 area in their interior?

As for DKH 4, I am hoping to absolute hell that hard plastic modular dungeon sprues are going to be a thing.

Just gave the digital rulebook a read through. Wonderful stuff, I think I've found my new Mordheim.

A Manta?

Six mistakes mankind keeps making century after century: Believing that personal gain is made by crushing others; Worrying about things that cannot be changed or corrected; Insisting that a thing is impossible because we cannot accomplish it; Refusing to set aside trivial preferences; Neglecting development and refinement of the mind; Attempting to compel others to believe and live as we do

^ It's actually a touch too small!

I think I will try to make something work, the idea is too good to pass up.

The nice thing about having a load of battlezones is that you can just put them together to make a giant spaceship just for fun if you want then take it apart and use it for regular terrain.

Not saying it's practical, but it is possible!

Also, looks like we have a pic of Freya in the DZ rulebook:

Spotted her earlier though I guess I didn't make mention of that here. Her face... I think it's just the angle but it looks a little weird right now. Or, no, there I stared at it long enough, looks fine.

Really good match for the concept art, IMO:

Oh wow yeah I forgot her face always looked like that. It has some kind of ethnic quality, I can't say which, but its kind of distinct in a way. And it carries from the sketch over into the model quite well actually.

Good example of concept == model, not a thing that always happens, but it did here.

The ethnicity you're looking for is Dwarf, I I'm pretty sure.

Lol. I just mean there's something particular about the eyes nose and face, and it translates almost directly from image to model.

Also, reading through the rulebook, I found something awesome... ENFORCERS STILL HAVE LASER RIFLES! Totally thought they were going to have solid ammo from some of the fluff snippets during the kickstarter. But they are described as having Genling 45 heavy laser rifles, ftw

Dwarf Kings Hold 4? Why have I not heard of this before?

I like the Marauder fluff. Even though the minis themselves retain some of the GW comic relief style for proxying, the fluff is all about them having pride in being apolitical mercenaries, being professional soldiers with uniforms and uniform equipment, and havng professional discretion - things you need to have more intelligence and introspection to do than most other Greenskin armies going around.

That's a big departure from comic relief/cobbled together equipment/fightin for fightin's sake and I really think the Warpath setting will be the better for it.

Agree on the marauders. The only thing I don't like is that they kept the name goblin instead of stunts. But I dunno, calling the smaller ones stunts in some ways makes them more like the orks of GW, so maybe goblin is better in the long term.

You miiiiht want to take a look at their updates

Imagine the feeling when you position your tanks, engines idling, landing gear deployed for a low profile, with firing solutions along a key bottleneck. Then some fether lands a dreadnought behind them in a giant heat shielded coke can.

I would prefer it if the Marauders took once more step back away from comic relief. (Chain saw tongue dogs) for example.

I'd actually say the face is a lot better on the miniature, at least from this first glance.

So we're all firmly in the "yay Mantic" category now, right?

As a general rule of course: nobody likes EVERYTHING. Not aesthetically loving freya (didn't care for concept art, I wrote her off) and the chainsaw doggies are questionable. I think I'll like em when in hand though.

Reality is a nice place to visit, but I'd hate to live there.
