Anything that has to do with the Koris would be awesome. Once my battle systems stuff comes in I'm going to be focusing on designing starship interiors for some kind of game play. Encountering the Koris while in transit far between safe harbors would be terrifying
I don't think they would make a good fulltime antagonist though, they'd probably be one of the raiding parties themselves. Kind of like Q from star trek, they show up when you don't want them, but they're off screwing with someone else most of the time.
Updated Veer'myn or Zzor, or hell even something else entirely would probably make a better antagonist.

Same here. I have like a hundred of the models, love 'em. Haven't paid much attention to the background so it could suck. But the models are great. Lots of little gribblies and details.

Veer-myn supposedly evolved from rats that stowed away humanity's sublight ships (mainly used for cargo movement---snail mail style). In less than 1000 years the rats evolved from what we know to humanoid rodents with intelligence and technical ability. Fluff plays the source (radiation from reactors, cosmic rays and/or bizarre chemical exposures) of the rapid evolution as unknown.

Similar to 40k, there's a 'knowledge gap" between what the inhabitants of the universe know and what us players know. The radiation etc. is probably what the inhabitants know, I'd assume such rapid evolution was a corporate action that has been written off as not their fault. Or is still being actively used to that corporations advantage. Much like 40k, I imagine it's intentional that you can have your own impression of the reality of the situation. Seconding any Z'zor action.

But think Ratty instead of Fishy.
I think a race of space faring rat men can definitely work, they just need to tweak the fluff to make them a viable enemy for the long term and not something trivial.

Considering they're already one of the existing Warpath armies, albeit a very small one, I think there's a fair chance they'll get a complete overhaul and inflation of units and fluff in the Warpath KS at the very least, if not sooner in a Deadzone expansion, so there's not much to worry about there - the only thing it comes down to is whether you still don't like the rewrite

What exactly does that mean? The admitted 1000 customers that received incomplete or defective orders were over what time period and what product ranges? What does "just needed more information" mean: That delivery was delayed without informing the customers? What could "lots of other contact forms regarding the sale" include? Can anyone estimate what percentage 1000 customers are? Or could one customer send multiple responses?

People could fill in the form more than once and I believe that a air few where just missing there dice, or shipment 2 items, other items they need details about could be saying they are missing a booster but as they are packed in a strange way, they may only be missing parts of the booster and mantic need to make shore they send the correct bits out.

Yeah, Ronnie did say they got a lot of emails about that, plus things like the missing dice or the Enforcer booster sets.
I'd take a guess that the 1000 people in the form mostly refers to Dreadball Season 3 folks, plus Deadzone people.
However, that seems far too low, especially since I, myself ended up putting 2 forms in for Deadzone and 1 in for Dreadball season 3.
In all honesty, while I really do love mantics games (and I've gone in for Frenzy), I genuinely do not know a single person that hasn't had some suffered some form of mistake with any mantic purchases of significant volume.

I suppose I should have added 'in person' to be completely fair.
But yeah, to break it down:
Exhibit A: (Me)
Dreadball Season 2: The missing Z'zor Jack, missing Z'zor striker arm/head
Dreadball Season 3: Missing Wyn Greth'ski arm, colour mismatched Acrylic Ultimate Pitch, missing Nightshade, missing Trontek Striker arm
Deadzone: Missing Equipment crate lids, missing Dreadball MVP, missing AW 'Vending Machines' from the commercial bundle (still waiting on these)
Azure Forest: Personal opinion, but a helluva lot of flash for a 'premium metal' model...
Exhibit B
Dreadball Season 2: Missing additional Refbot/Ball. Missing Cheerleader pompom, missing Zzor Jack.
Dreadball Season 3: Wrong packed Zee arm (sadly we didn't pick up on this until after the 'missing parts' survey closed)
Deadzone: Missing Marauder Commando Captain
Azure Forest: Miscast trophy
Exhibit C
Deadzone pre-release, plus 100's of pounds of other Christmas preorders in person at the mantic open day. Doesn't get an acknowledgement of the order by email for more than 3 weeks, after constant chasing. Marauders and Rebs of this pre-release arrived just 2 weeks ago.
Exhibit D
Dreadball kickstarter, Forge Fathers are badly warped/miscast. Sends them back, via Royal Mail signed postage and promised a refund. Package is signed for by someone at mantic. Mantic claims they never received the package. Mantic does not refund and Exhibit D is now vehemently anti-manticgames.
Exhibit E
Orders pre-release of Deadzone of Marauders box set as Christmas present, with dispatch date on Website as significantly before Christmas. Product doesn't arrive and communication with Mantic strongly denies that the dispatch date for it was never listed as before February. He's also grumpy that the crazy box didn't come with bases, but well, it never said it did...
I believe I had 2-4 more stories but I can't remember them off-hand. The thing is, for me, I'm continuing to put the majority of the contents of my wallet in Mantic's hands, having actually talked myself into going for Frenzy now on the Dreadball Xtreme kickstarter. Even though they're a tiny company (22 people or so) in the grand scheme of things, it's long past time for them to, well, mantic up and get things sorted.
Phew.... That was cathartic.

Potential crossover alert!
The new MERCS Recon kickstarter board game looks IMHO look it has a ton of potential, and if the campaign goes anything like their last one (Myth), it could be an insane value by the end. Whatever, though, I'm not here to sell you guys on it as a game.
I'm here to sell you on it as a potential subject for Battlezone bling-age. They haven't confirmed board size officially yet, but it looks to be squares of 3 inches, so our Deadzone terrain should fit perfectly. It's a game about super soldiers invading 23rd century office spaces, so the style of Mantic's terrain is dead on as well. Could end up synergizing perfectly...

As for the MERCS thing, I put down for the 48 hour notice, I don't have the energy to follow another kickstarter closely for a wee bit of a while.

No doubt I'll get a kicking for this, people will say I only moan about Mantic. But seriously. Another f*@&ing Kickstarter for Deadzone?!
I'm a huge fan of the game. Despite my complaining about how it has been handled, I think the game itself is excellent, lots of fun to play and I've spent a fair bit of cash on it already.
The game has plenty of units already. It's a skirmish game, there isn't meant to be a million units for you to choose from like 40k.
The game has been out for a month. How about trying to grow the community of people playing the game first! Another Kickstarter to add units is only going to leech off of the people who have already paid their money for the game, not add new customers.

I had stuff missing in KoW (bases and golems). And of course the obligatory missing dice/plastic enforcers from DZ, but those don't count if they became second-shipment items, right? To me, they don't count. Other than that, my shipments have been spot on, miscast a have been dealt with (new minis shipped), and worst I've had to deal with are mild lines (I only kill the worse offenders). So not too bad on my end. It really sounds like a lot of people have had it a lot worse than me. One or two people on here (remaining nameless) have even had Mantic kick their dogs and steal their wives, let alone bring about the apocalypse.

I don't feel like I fell into the 'kicked their dogs' category. They haven't been terribly snappy with every reply, but I haven't gone more than a week or two without they getting back to me. I did get my stuff late, but it was an honest mixup and they did send it out the moment things were available (not all the things, but I'm glad they sent what they did have in stock, or I'd never have gotten to work on it before summer busy season resumed). So if they kicked my dog, at least they were nice about it :p

This.........so much this.
All these KS campaigns are doing is destroying Mantic's market penetration. There are giant chunks of the Western United States where not a single soul has heard of Mantic. I know the "but we get great deals from KS" crowd don't want to hear it because it ruins their psycho discount, but giving all their stuff out to their fan base at crazy deals instead of having them grabbing it off of store shelves makes it to where few stores are picking it up. I know a shop owner here doesn't trust he can sell any Mantic stock because he feels anyone who would want it would already get it from them directly.
I've said it before and I'll say it again, it's not a good sign if they are unable to expand upon existing lines/games without using KS to do it.

where I live there are few to no local gaming stores, except gw. If I want any mantic figures I have to order online. So ks are a great way for me to pick up a great deal and support the company's growth. Lets not forget without ks we would not have most of the figures mantic have produced. Some people would prefer a more traditional release schedule but I cant understand why when both the customer and mantic gain so much. I do think they could be better prepared for each ks so slowing them down will give them time to do this, plus general release what the ks has funded.
