The other day I put together a list in about 5 minutes to play against a new pal. I decided to put a power field generator on my DA libby, just because I had 30 spare points. OMG that simple piece of equip saved my day, cause it turned out my opponent played a slaaneshi list with lots of soni blasters (AP3 area, ignores cover) and dual helldrake. I camped my libby in a venerable land raider and I kept my RB close to the good'ole raider.
The LR proved nigh indestructible with AV14,a 4+ invul and damage table rerolls, and the power field generator not only saved lots of marines from baleflamers and sonic blasters but also kept other vehicles safer from the vector strikes of the helldrakes.

What do you think about the Power field?

Depends on the list. As you said, inside a LR the 4++ bubble gets expanded quite a bit and is awesome for your surrounding vehicles and normal marines. In a Deathwing army, you only increase your save by one and you grant it to your enemies in assault as well. Do note that the power generator provides models within range an invulnerable save, not units. So it's a bit harder to provide all of your footslogging marines with a save.

How did you get a reroll on the damage table?

You also know that you can give a power field generater to a techmarine right?

He probably took the Deathwing landraider upgrade.

Yes, but it's pretty simple to keep 2-3 vehicles AND up to 10 marines within the Raider (without having them clumped)

Also, besides not having a Techmarine model, i feel that putting it on a librarian is more efficient (even if a techmarine that keeps repairing the LR make it almost an impenetrable fortress)

The power field generator is what makes my 4 land raider list so powerful. 4 AV 14 vehicles with a 4++ are pretty annoying. Put it this way everyone hates the 4++ on pink horrors. Now imagine something substantially harder to kill getting the 4++.
