Hello Dakka!

As the title reads, I was wondering if it would be possible to convert space wolves to black templars. I know with any other flavor of space marine, this would be an obvious yes, but space wolves are so... overly wolfish, i was wondering if I would be better off just trying to trade them for vanilla marines to convert to black templars. Has anyone had success doing this before, or would it just be easier for me to trade my space wolves for other MEQs?

Thanks!

It would be easier imo to just trade for a BT army in the swapshop.

I should warn you that space wolves are currently a far more competative army than BT.

I think you're right, it would be easier to trade than convert. My one caveat is that I'm probably going to use the BP/CCW on my initiates, which I'm fairly certain regular marine sets don't come with.

And yes, I know SW are much, much more competitive, but I really like BT, and care more about that than winning at this point I suppose.

Thanks for your help!

While I could obviously and totally see using Space Wolf models to make your own take on a Marine force that functions just like the Black Templars(Black templars rules w/Space Wolf models), but if you are going as far as swapping out one set of iconography for the other, I think that is just making far too much work for yourself.

It would be a better use of resources to get the BP/CCW bits to add to regular Tactical Marine models. It would cost more money, versus ,more time and effort.

I personally use SW heads for BT, but other than that, you're better off buying normal marines then buying the BT upgrade pack.

Not to mention you can spread one upgrade pack into converting a whole dang lot of marines. As long as you don't put every BT bit you see on every marine, you can use one upgrade pack for twenty or so marines.

It's extremely possible to use DA parts for BT, though. Just shave off the icons. DA fits the BT aesthetic (although they're more gothic-church-y than crusader-warrior-y), and vice versa. Check out the DA upgrade pack and the new termie and bike models.

Some people don't care. Some people like having fun...

Now, on topic. The SW icons would be rather difficult to obliterate, unless they were just added on. The heads, could make up for it. the bearded heads look awesome as Templars.

I have a metric gak ton of bits for my space wolves, so I think I will keep them and try to trade away the assembled marines for black templar marines. It's their asthetic that appeals to me, so using space wolves COUNTS AS BT doesn't do it for me.
I took a 2nd look at the SW models, and they're just to distinct to convert back to BT, it'd be a huge pain.

Thanks for the advice all!
