Hey guys,

It looks as though a Collete player at my local club wants to play against me. Now I have looked through quite a few threads and it gives me some general ideas but they are kind of wishy washy as in its hit and miss really with Collete. I think the Dreamer/LCB would not be considered as mobile as collete, however they are not far off. Our brute damage I think out matches theres. Although our defensive abilties are considered minimal especially against colletes heals and swaps. My question is how would you usually go about combating a collete crew. I understand that it is very situational due to the scheme and strategies, but any general ideas just to be a pain in the a** for him haha. My crew usually looks like this:

The Dreamer/LCB
Daydream
Daydream
Daydream
Coppelius
Teddy
Alp
Alp
Alp

Any ideas??

The collete player is also quite competitve and is like a robot when it comes to the mechanics of collete. So he rarely makes any mistakes haha. This is really quite bad for me because I usually capitalise off peoples mistakes i.e bad positioning or forgetting objectives etc.

My wife plays Colette, and in my limited time/skill with this game, I can safely say that trying to take Colette out is going to be tough if the rest of her crew is around. So Id imagine going after her crew (if thats your strategy obviously) rather then her would be a good idea.

Yup, this is the general strategy, kill everything and then go for Colette... Or ya know, play the objectives

I thought this would be the case. It just so happens a lot of the schemes I pick involve killing parts of the crew, i.e Kidnap. I was just wondering if I could pick something a little more versatile haha :S

Anywayz cheers for the feedback

The trick to combating Colette with any other crew is to go after her resources. Specifically, Colette's important resources are her Soulstones and her crew. Eliminating Showgirls on the table will reduce Colette's ability to jump around the table. Reducing her Soulstones (forcing her to burn them) removes a lot of her abilities.

Also, consider using Coppelius to paralyze key models in Colette's crew. Often being able to paralyze a model such as Colette or a Coryphee/Coryphee Duet is more useful than doing damage.

If I can make a couple suggestions for your crew, I would offer some advice for your to consider. While it reduces the number in your crew, you might want to consider dropping 2 Alp's and grabbing a Stitched together. It looks like you have the Dreamer starter box, so Stitched should have come in the box. The stitched make really good bodyguards for Dreamer with thier Does not Die ability. Don't forget that when targeting dreamer, as long as another nightmare could be targeted by an opponent, then the night MUST be targeted if its in 3 inches of dreamer.

I hope that helps!

Cheers mate that is sound advice. I think I will trade off for the stitched. Had a game with one of them yesterday and the ability to drop clouds is awesome, and yes the "Does not die" ability combined with the dreamers unique defensive ability does make it very difficult to kill. One question about coppelius though. Wouldn't colette be able to use her defensive trigger, which swaps her with a showgirl, to get out of the paralysis?

She would, but then the showgirl is paralyzed.

the big things with Colette is you should be careful attacking her unless she is either:
1. Out of Cards
2. Out of Showgirls

Without either of those conditions, she is going to be very hard to pin down.

Ah okay, well dreamer/LCB has a few abilities that will make him burn cards and soul stones (disembowel). And I am generally good at killing things with this crew so I don't think it would be too difficult to kill showgirls...hopefully.

Id suggest committing to killing them off, rather then whittle on a bunch at the same time if possible. Id rather spend a turn killing off 1 showgirl, then a turn wounding a couple
