Wait a minute... I thought the miniatures KD:M were all CAD-Sculpted. What's that armature for the Miko for?

Depends on the sculptor- some are CAD etc., some are traditional.

Excessive? I'd disagree. What's wrong with a monster having proper anatomy?

Holy gak that is an awesome username. Please tell me your army is called Kabal of the Fragile Breath. Morathi's Darkest Sin has some competition here for best handle, I think.

I'd argue that it is, but Kingdom Death seems based on excess and exaggeration, so, well, I think it's appropriate.

Body horror is part of the theme running throughout the design of the game. According to Poots, it is supposed to freak you out and make you feel icky and alienated.

I'm addicted to these updates. I can't wait for my giant box to arrive many, many months from now.

The Sunstalker armor is looking great, and the fur armor is looking beautiful!

Why is it necessary for a miniatures game?

The only thing that makes me feel alienated is the OTT T&A female models.

And now the concept art that has a "nigredo" head in a jar...with not so subtle facial characteristics. I'd call racism, but I'll just assume (based on the other work) that the creator is ignorant of western social norms.

You might want to avoid KINGDOM DEATH threads moving forward then.

Going to ignore the racist caricature, eh?

It would be easier to ignore if people weren't posting a link to the KS that contains a NSFW image on what is supposedly a family friendly site.

I would avoid the racial caricatures simply because I feel you're grasping at straws. I can see what you're referring to, but I googled the word Nigredo (something I'm apt to do when I don't recognize a word), and I get this:

Nigredo, or blackness, in alchemy means putrefaction or decomposition. The alchemists believed that as a first step in the pathway to the philosopher's stone all alchemical ingredients had to be cleansed and cooked extensively to a uniform black matter

Seeing as it's a head in a jar, I assumed it would relate to alchemy... but that's just me...

What racist charicature is this? The one next to three jars who, as a foursome, make up the alchemic magnum opus? That one?

There's nothing racist about it; you just dont have the proper knowledge to put it in the correct context.

As to feeling 'alienated by the OTT T&T;' puhlease, take your overly puritanical stick and beat it elsewhere. You know opening a KD thread there may be some 'risque' art, and if that's the kind of stuff you find objectionable, don't open the thread.

I think you're trying to see things that aren't there. Nigredo is a term used in alchemy.

Nigredo, or blackness, in alchemy means putrefaction or decomposition

The other heads are alchemy terms as well.

I also don't see any "subtle facial charactersistics". I just see a decomposing head in a jar.

And on top of that, I'm not seeing much NSFW in there either.

But then again, maybe none of us should be browsing a game site... at work!

It's pretty immature to not respond to a PM with a PM, respond to my PM in this thread, and then delete my response. I showed enough courtesy to extract myself from this thread and contact you personally, I would expect a moderator to do the same.

Edit: My issue with the T&A has nothing to do with being "puritannical", "old fashioned", or "Amish." I consider exploitation of female sexuality in an attempt to be "edgy" and "mature". If the game truly desired to be mature it would depict females not as bimbo pin ups, but as actual characters, equal to their male counterparts.

The concept and setting of the game are both interesting and I understand the allure.

I'd normally complain, but the thing is with KD, that's what the aesthetic of the game is all about: OTT Pin-ups and demonic forces that are cleverly designed to avoid most of the tropes in other games but still look weird and disturbing. KD does this very well, and if you don't like what they're setting out to do then there's little point in complaining about it.

If you were to call racism, that would imply you didn't bother to look at the three other jars in that same picture.

Well, he's certainly free to express his opinion, of course!

But if it leads to continually beating the same drum over and over, it could be considered spam and/or trolling, and that might cause trouble.

Have to wonder why the head appears to be mishapen, has a broad flat nose, large brow, and thick lips...

It looks nothing like any other male skull in any of their other artwork...

Well, it's misshapen because its desiccated.

As to the the other three "attempts to incite racial implications:"

Quite frankly, you're seeing what you want to see. The nose is hardly "broad". The brow isn't any more large than any of the other three skulls (that at this point I'm convinced you can't see). And thick lips? Give me a break. First, there's only one, the bottom one, and the top one is nearly non-existent and withered.

Seriously, take your race bating somewhere else.

Automatically Appended Next Post:
And as to "not looking like any of the other artwork:"

I'd direct you to Update 67 where the male heads are on display. One of the heads clearly has some of the very characteristics you're attempting to classify as racist.

I'm not sure how you come to your conclusion that they are the same. Just looking at the sun stalker armor posted above. Compared to the male model.

The helmet is cut down to show more of her face.

the arms are rather bare.

The top is cut out to show more belly and what looks like a thong or string bikini under the shorts.

The shorts bug me the most. Exposed thighs with only a fraction of the covering of the male legs.

She has heels too.

I also find a problem with the posing. She isn't doing anything, but standing. Meanwhile the male model is moving looks like he about to strike.

I honestly don't see the features you claim to be in that particular head in a jar. Just looks like a decaying head in a jar, I see no signs of racism.

You're really apt at dodging eh? We're see what we want to see. You obviously want to see something racist that at least 5 of us in this thread don't see.

You must simply be leaps and bound more culturally enlightened than us.

Getting a wee bit off topic all. I'm baffled how anyone could possibly come into a KD thread and complain about OTT T&A and disturbing images. That IS Kingdom Death. That's like going into a 40k thread and saying that the human skulls on stuff is disturbing and GW should stop because it's inhumane.

On the updates, I'm simply effing drooling. The art is jaw dropping and making me extremely excited to get this in. Some KS put out great little updates, KD drops the "OMG Drool" every update.
